DECEPTION
"A really great book!! The end made me cry didn't like how it ended. But really loved it."
Addicting!!
"OMG, I seriously want to keep reading this book! The first four chapters were way to easy to devour and now I want to know more about this case. I'm also wondering if there's going to be a possible love interest for Nancy? Mostly because I think she needs someone to balance her out? But it does seem way too early to see or think about that. Also are we going to meet Walter's boyfriend? Please say yes!"
Deception
"I'm pretty impressed with this. That bully is definitely a son of someone high up, maybe police force or something with politicians. The principal is an intriguing character as well. He definitely has connections as well. And we seem to be getting feelings again. Obviously we are also really good at cracking cases and we aren't giving up on this one. Her pride will be hurt later on though because Nick is obviously going to reveal her secrets but she'll bring down every single corrupt person. I can see a future for this book."

"I like how the police woman is dedicated to her work.i would recommend this to my friend. I rated it because of how the story is told ❤️ "
Dichotomous
"The story is not awful, but it has some flaws. The story is written in a hard-nosed, Mickey Spillane/Mike Hammer-style world, where the cop/investigator can get away with just about anything, and not like today's current news where the police are placed at fault for every little thing, whether they're guilty of it or not. The main character, Nancy, is not a likeable person, nor is she meant to be unless you just want a story where someone goes in and kicks butt and takes names. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that. The problem is the story is repetitive. Nancy complains about everyone, including her boss, sometimes relaying the same information over and over. For example, the reader discovers that she was married to a reporter for two years and they don't get along. For whatever reason, that information is repeated in the following chapter instead of just cutting to the chase that the jerk printed a very private and emotional incident for the public to read. The article also makes the reader wonder why no one else on the force, except the chief, knows her mother's criminal and suicidal background if it was published in the paper/online. People, in general, especially detectives, look up who they are working or associating with to better understand who they're dealing with. Not to mention, in today's society, to get dirt on someone or water cooler gossip. Additionally, some of the narration regarding her hatred of a particular person(s) is unnecessary because it's really already implied through Nancy's hard-hitting dialogue and attitude. SPOILER* We are told that Nancy has no feelings for the victims, yet she questions the chief on how he'd feel if it had been his daughter who was raped by a guy that Nancy injures. She asks him what he thinks all the rape victims felt. She also is upset about the boy's suicide, possibly just because of her family history, but it comes across that the victim still weighs on her mind, as well. Nancy also puts her work before everything, yet she gets upset when she's going to have to work overtime. Maybe that's just because she doesn't want the case, but most workaholics don't complain about overtime. It's difficult to get them to take time off. It makes Nancy seem to be dichotomous, playing both sides of the fence —telling people one thing, but actually feeling another. Perhaps, once the novel is complete, these facts will come out. At the moment, it just makes her seem like she's just a very angry person that can't decide if she cares or doesn't care. The story also needs another proofing and edit. There are some repeated words and tense issues. All that being said, I enjoy the hard-hitting pulp style of Edwards's writing. I believe this story has some potential with a little more work."
