From the moment I first lay eyes on you, I know.

Even from a distance you’re undeniably beautiful, but that’s not why I’m instantly attracted to you. It’s your vibe, your aura. As you dance around in that skimpy cheerleader uniform which shows off your long, toned legs, your energy radiates all the way across the football field to where I sit in the stands. The second I see you, the very second I lay my eyes on you, it pulls me in. My eyes are fixated on you and only you. Around you, the other cheerleaders are dancing too, but I don’t care about them. I only care about you.

“Riley, who’s that girl?” I don’t take my eyes off you as I speak to my cousin Riley who’s sitting beside me. He goes to your school and it’s because of him that I’m here now. I was annoyed at him before, high-school football games aren’t really my scene, but it looks like I owe him one. Because of him, I’ve met you.

“What girl?” Riley looks across the field in confusion, his eyes trailing over the cheerleaders.

“Cheerleader, brown hair, third from left.” I try to hide the exasperation in my voice. Can there really be any doubt that I’m referring to you? Even from a distance, you stand out.

“Oh her! That’s Victoria Harper, but everyone calls her Vee.” Riley turns to me and sheepishly rubs his neck, “She’s a senior and obviously really hot.”

Obviously.

I reluctantly peel my eyes away from you and turn to look at Riley. He’s staring sheepishly at the ground, a slight blush across his face with the guilty look of a virgin teenage boy who’s seen something that arouses him. I don’t blame him. I don’t even know you and I’m already thinking of what I want to do to you. With you.

“Yes, yes she is. Do you know anything else about her?”

Riley shrugs. “Not really. I do know that she works at the diner on the corner, but that’s about it.”

That’s a start at least, Vee. I know your name. I know where you work. I can’t wait to know more, Vee. I can’t wait to get to know you.

Yes, you’re beautiful, but I need more than just a pretty face, Vee. I need to make sure that you’re worthy. But I have high hopes Vee, because it’s not often that a girl can reel me in at first glance. It’s not often that I can feel an instant connection with someone.
