Chapter 1

(an original by Maronica Hermosilla)

2019 flashed before my eyes, Before I could grasp what happened,

I was hit with a surprise.

Covid19 came bursting through the door.

Handing out sugar covered sickness

With a “wear a mask” lure.

The threat was never taken serious,

We joked around and laughed.

We made memes about it,

But it spread pretty fast.

Millions infected in Wuhan alone. We quarantined ourselves.

The family had to stay at home.

My tiny loving island got

caught up in the disease.

We followed all the rules,

Because we are in the seas.

Surrounded by the water,

We stayed home for months.

Things started dimming down

But then we heard about the sons.

The father that got beaten,

Because his skin was toned.

Labeled “police brutality” yet that was what they condoned.

With ammunition in their clip,

I couldn’t believe what I read.

They burned a whole city

As said that’s what they will do for their dead.

If i could go back to the year of ’19

I would pray to god to make the families stop hurting.

We got families dying, 2020 please.

“ACAB” is the only thing being preached.

2019 flashed before my eyes,

Just as quick, was the worlds great demise.
