Introduction
Melanie joined high school few months ago after completing her preparatory life. She now attended Brooklyn High School, her dream school, which was situated in Bamako, Mali. Her parents had a rough time coming into terms with Mel’s decision of going to study so far from them but finally agreed after some convincing from Mel herself.
In high school, she was living her life to the fullest unlike what she had imagined her life there would be. Her siblings were telling her stories about the life they had in high school and she imagined life would be rough. She was one of those people who usually had a rough time once joining a new school but this time it was different. She met new people who knew nothing about her and it was as if she was starting a new life.
Sitting in a television studio hosting her own lifestyle show was what Mel dreamed of for her future when she was young. She vowed that one way or another she would find herself in that studio. You will have to agree with me that as you grow up your dreams change and become more complex. This was no different for Mel since by the time she was in high school this was not her only dream but was only one among many others. Although Mel was just a normal teenager there was one thing that made her different from the rest, she detested the holidays.
Most students are so elated at the thought of holidays. They miss home and everything that goes on at home. Everything that was going on back at Mel’s home at that time was not making it any better for her. She would pray and hope that something would happen and they would not have to go for the holidays.
Unfortunately, as she was enjoying her 2020, a pandemic (corona virus) struck the nation and the government had no other choice than to close schools. Everyone was excited except for Mel. She tried to think of all the positive things that happened during the holidays but it would always occur that the negative would overrule the positive. She went to her dormitory and lay on her bed. Her friend, Joy, noticed that she was not happy so she tried to ask her what the matter could be but Mel had decided to keep it to herself. Mel gave herself hope as she told herself that it would only be for a short matter of time not knowing that she was about to spend about eight months at home.
Let me explain where all this hatred for the holidays started.
