The Rude Boss

It’s 24th August today, that means it’s my birthday today. But wait nobody even knows that. Nobody in my office even likes to see me. They all, All my 8 employees hate me. But I don’t care. I’m sitting here in my office having cup of coffee and suddenly Pamela came and said “Robert, Daniel is calling you, he said it’s something urgent”. Put him through. I said.

“Hey Robert, Happy Birthday My Man” Daniel said

“You remembered” I replied.

Daniel: Of-course, anyways Robert we have to submit our project before 27th.

Me: Yes. We just have to give it final touch and we’re done.

Daniel: Okay. I’ll talk to you later, One important meeting have to attend.

Daniel is my boss. He is such a nice guy and sometimes he is very strict. He is very sincere and very sensitive related to his work. He has got 12 Employee of the year award. And here I am without any appreciation. I’m working in this office from past 9 years, and there is total 8 employees working under me. Pamela, She is my assistant.

Hey Pamela. Do you know what is today?

Pamela: Yes, it’s Saturday. WEEKEND!

Me: Yeah, you can rest tomorrow. What are your weekend night plans?

Pamela: I’m going at McDolands with James. It’s date.

Me: Oh so sorry, I forgot to tell you you have to stay here bit longer. We have to submit our project before 27th so maybe you have to cancel your date thing today.

Pamela: WHAT ROBERT! I’m going with him after so long time. I don’t want to cancel that. I’ll do overtime on Monday.

Me: Either you stay bit longer today, or Lose your job. Choice is YOURS.

Pamela: (grunts) OKAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!

We’re at the end of our project, and I don’t even need her to do overtime today. I gave her kinda punishment just because she forget my birthday.

Then she went at her table and called James, he is there just 20 ft. away from her. “Hey we have to cancel our date tonight” Pamela said unhappily. “Why?” James answered surprisingly. “I hate our boss Robert, he has always been so rude to me” Pamela said angrily. “Oh yeah! Last Tuesday I wanted to go home early, my mom hasn’t been well lately, that asthma problem I told you about, and I asked Robert to leave early and THAT JERK he denied. He said you must let me know ¾ days before. My mom was so angry on me that time.” James said. “So I guess we have to fix another date for our date, is it okay” Pam said with little smile on her face.

I went into employee area suddenly, and stood next to Pamela and I said her “Don’t you want to work? Do we pay you just to talk with James? What has happened with you little Pam. You haven’t been paying attention to work lately. It’s happening since you came in relationship with James. Your progress report is also down this year. We can’t work in this way.” Pamela started crying. “Truth always hurts” I said in sarcastic manner. Every one of them was looking at me, James would have punched me. But I’m his boss so he can’t, HA-HA.

I was so angry at all of them, it has been 9 years we working together and none of them even knows my birthday. Yes I’m hard person and I admit that I always hurt them but at least they should have known my birthday. There was Joe’s birthday last month. Joe is our peon, very hard working guy and behaves so nicely with every employee. One day I forgot my lunch at home so he gave me his lunch and we ate together. Okay I’m not jealous of that right. Then I got call from one of our customer they were having a little problem with one of websites we made for them. I went to their office with Christian.

Christian, he is one of best employee in our branch. He was driving and I asked him “Hey Christian do you know what is today” he replied “Yes how can I forgot this day, Exactly one year ago my father died on this day”. I put my hand around his shoulder and said “Oh, that’s so bad, I’m sorry”. “Oh Robert nobody cares about you” Me to myself.

My mom used to remember my birthday I lost her when I was in 11th standard. My mom divorced with my father. Why am I even thinking about this, on this special day I don’t want to spoil this day, although it’s already spoiled. “Chris stop the car I want to buy a champagne” he stopped the car and I bought ‘DOM PERIGNON’ that’s very costly champagne. “Something Special today, Robert?” Christian asked. “Mind your business” I replied with big smile. Christian was shaking his head.

We reached at their office afterwards, they were so angry on us. Some feedback and chat facility in website was not working.

“We are facing this problem for 5th time in this month.” Lynn said angrily

Lynn is our client, he is the owner of Cement company and we made a website for them and that’s not working sometimes.

“Oh that’s so bad, we are very sorry about that Lynn” Christian said calmly.

“SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE CIRCUMSTANCES, SERVERS MIGHT GET DOWN, SOME INTERNAL PROBLEMS MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED, BE MATURE NOW.” my nose was like balloons on that time, my eyebrows were up and my eyes were so big when I said that.

“How are you even boss of this company, I can register complaint about this, how this company is even tolerating you. You don’t even know how to talk with your customers”

Lynn hit his hand on table and said that. “And thing about server down? Why your servers are getting down for 7 times in one month?”

“Let’s go Christian I don’t want to see this guy’s face anymore” I said and moved to elevator.

“We’re so sorry Lynn you have to deal with this, We’ll try to resolve it ASAP.” Christian told him. “FUCK OFF” Lynn replied. “I don’t want to do business with someone who don’t even know how to treat their client, How is he even a boss of this famous company, I am going to complain about him to Daniel.”

“I don’t care” I replied from elevator.

I don’t work this way, telling them Sugar-coated words just for their attraction, I don’t work here to earn anyone’s trust, I work here for money. Yes money is the only thing matters in my life RIGHT NOW.

“Do you think Robert I deserve raise?” Christian said with his one cheek up.

“No” I replied while setting my hair.

“Oh Robert it has been now like 3 year, and I’m working my ass of from that time. At least I deserve a little raise, May I ask why you are not giving me raise?” Christian asked

“No I’m not here to give any Explanation” I said with little attitude.

Christian’s face was like balloon when I said those things to him, he was very angry on me. But I don’t care, Everyone hates me and that doesn’t even bother me. I’m very used to take hatred of everyone. My Dad hated me, My wife hated me, My Employees hates me, and now my Clients too. But same as before “I DON’T CARE.” There is only one person who loves me.. and he is – Mr. ROBERT WILSON.

We reached at office again, and I heard a sound of songs there I was very angry I thought everyone is enjoying in my absence. I went up there quickly and I saw there were lost of balloons and a big board with my photo, “Eww, I’m looking ugly in that picture” I said to Christian and One ’Happy Birthday Robert’ Poster.

“You guys remembered my Birthday” I said with joy.

“Of Course Robert, How can we forgot big man’s Birthday” Joe replied with smiling face.

“No one remembered I found it on Facebook” Adam said quietly “What did you say Adam?” I asked “Nothing Nothing, Happy Birthday Sir!” he replied with his head down.

“Happy Birthday Wilson” Jackson said. “Woah Thank you big man!”

Jackson is one of our senior employee I respect him, He is kind of Inspiration to me, His situation is same as me, His wife left him and all other shit. But his is very lazy toward his work, and I am the guy who want perfection in everything. You might find it ironic right? Our servers are staying down 5 days In week and I want perfection (chuckles).

“Here is the Cake for you Robert” Pamela brought the cake on table.

I held the knife with eagerness, and then I murdered the cake”

“Pamela, Pamela” I said in deep voice “Call the ambulance it’s bleeding, don’t you guys tell police I murder this thing, I’m leaving this town”

Everyone was laughing so hard.

“It’s good to see you this way Robert” Adam said with happy face.

Everyone started singing “Happy Birthday To You… Happy Birthday Robert”

I was very angry today until this happened, I was happy after ages. Reduces my stress for a little time. Then I thought this guys deserves a party and I brought them in to Rendy’s kitchen. It’s a little cafe near our office. Very delicious food and great service too. Then I brought my costly ‘DOM PERIGNON’ from Christian’s car. I poured it in glass and served to everyone.

Suddenly James stood up with the glass in his hand said,

“Robert evolution of our branch’s credit goes to you without you that would not be possible, you are such a great mentor to me, and I’m looking forward to work with you for a very long time, Thank you so much Robert for showing great support for treating us like a family. Yes you are little rude sometimes, “Not little” Pamela interfered.

That brought wide smile on everyone’s face.

James continued….

Yes you’re very rude to us, but we can understand there must a reason behind that.

“My current mood is like milk, it’ll only stay fresh for 12 hours” I said to everyone.

“OOOFFFFFFF” Everyone nodded.

“Toast to Robert” Raj said.

“Toast to Robert” everyone said along with him.

“Thanks Guys, and James you won’t get promotion by giving me that speech” I said him cheerfully. “Hehe don’t need that” James replied.
