When I was a little girl, I would sit in my backyard and peel the petals off of wildflowers one by one.
He loves me.
He loves me not.
Even as a child I realized how dumb that was. Love doesn’t happen like that.
Surely it didn’t.
But it might... It might actually happen that way. It could very well, be that dumb.
You might love someone one day, fully believing that they love you back with just as much intensity.
And the next day, you find out that’s not always how it works.
He loved me.
Until he didn’t.
It really was just that simple. And yet somehow so unbelievably complicated.
Just as my world was crumbling around me and I was free-falling into God knows what, someone reached out and caught me.
And right or wrong, I clung to him.
