Chapter 1

I walked over to the mirror in my room. I stared at my reflection, over looking all my flaws. I was a skinny feral looking girl, with light brown hair and green/brown eyes.

"I'm just a stupid girl" I said to my self as I recall the harsh words my father had said to me.

I quickly ran to my bed as I waited on my nightmares to replace them with new ones, as the sound of familiar footsteps approached my door.

My drunk father stumbled into my room "come here rat it's time to teach you a lesson" he said dragging me off my bed.

"Please father it was a accident!" I pleaded to him.

He didn't listen. he would only leave when I had lashes all other my lags and stomach.

He left for good after I fell to the floor and couldn't move.

"That should teach you" He said as he left.

I had started to pass out because of the pain. I started watching me standing in the kitchen but not through my eyes... I was doing the dishes when a glass cup slipped from my shaky hands.

"What the hell was that!" My father yelled from the living room turning down the loud T.V. I then woke up remembering now why I had been in trouble. And with that I got up and started to pack.

AS: The writing here is clean, polished, and flows so naturally that it was a real pleasure to read.Isla is a great protagonist. Her self-deprecating humor made her feel real (the squirrel's tail and the upside-down trees in the epilogue had me laughing), and her skills as a healer and her growth into h...

Generally I love the stories where there is love interaction between the characters but in this one without any explicit love scenes or even the explicit feelings,it really captured the attention well. Xonereth: This was an interesting read for me which I really enjoyed. My grandfather was what you would call a berserker.
