Summary

Turning 18 for Kristen McMurphy meant becoming fit, looking hot, trying new things, making friends and most of all talking to Robin. Little did she know that the change which she badly wanted would put a price on her head and transform her into something unreal. “What’s happening to me?, I feel sooo hot!” And that was when the pain hit her hard, “Russell,do something!”I gritted in pain from her grip on my arm, “Calm down, the pain will soon be over”.Her grip on me tightened and then slowly became less painful as she passed out. . . Chapter 1

Kristen’s POV

0

I still couldn’t believe that school would resume this Monday, I’d spent the last six weeks of my break going to the gym and now here I was looking at the mirror I was soo proud of myself. I would no longer be “fat Kris”, and maybe, just maybe I could start afresh. The kids at Freetown High could be mean as hell, I was only 10 when I started being called ‘eww girl’ and from there the names just kept evolving.“Kris!, come down for dinner”, my mom yelled from down the stairs, “I’m coming” I replied dryly. My parents were having some guests over from the office and they wanted us to dress nicely. I stared at my newly fitted size 10 blue sequins dress before putting it on, I used my hand to straighten it out while feeling my new body and then I stepped out of my room only to meet the shocked looks on my family’s face “why are you all looking like you’ve seen a ghost?” And mom walked up to me looked me up head to toe before saying “ Not at all baby, you look beautiful ” and she hugged me. And I left her embrace only to meet Madelyn wiping a fake tear from her face while scrunching her nose at me “stupid” I muttered under my breath and then the guests arrived and we had the most boring dinner ever.

I woke up to the most amazing sunrise with a bright smile on my face, it was my birthday and it was my first day of school as a last year senior, I thought lamely. I had my shower and picked out a pair of blue jeans and a green top. Then I heard a knock on my door, “who is it?” I asked “it’s Madelyn, you looser, open up”I grunted, while still trying to open the door she marched in with a small bag. “What is it? I’m not in the mood for your snappy comments”she rolled her eyes and said “so you thought about your body and not your hair?, sit down”. I sat down with millions of thoughts running in my head ‘what if she wants to shave my hair so I can’t go to school then she said done. My hair looked beautiful with trimmed curls and I said thank you and she muttered ‘Happy birthday ’ under her breathes and walked out, I pulled out a pair of sneakers and then went downstairs. Breakfast was filled with gifts, wishes, hugs and then mom pulled out a car key ,I saw the car it was a white small Hyundai.I drove us to school in my new scented car.

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
