Prologue
The flag was a majestic blue, with a golden lion in the middle.
Princess Izabella stood at her bedroom window, staring as one by one, the flag who was once terrified and admired by many was let down slowly, replaced by a white and plain cloth.
White. White for grieving. White for mourning. Mourning for the former great king. Mourning for all those knights who sacrificed there lives just to protect their kingdom. Mourning for the kindom. Mourning for the future that's yet to come.
Eleina stood behind her highness, not moving or saying anything. She too was grieving. Grieving for the future of the kingdom, and most importantly, for the unseen future of her princess.
Another hour passed and a knight came knocking on the princess' room. Seeing the unfamiliar face, Eleina then understood that the knight was an enemy. Wearing a black and red armor, the man just stood there and stared at the two beautiful ladies in the room. Seeing that the man only stood there, not even bowing as a sign of respect in the presence of a princess, Eleina scowled.
"The King requires your presence, Princess," the man said and Eleina saw a small smirk formed on his lips.
"What if the Princess is unwilling?" Eleina asked.
"I must have said it wrongly," the man's smirk grew bigger. "The King orders your presence, Princess."
"You—"
"Eleina, that's enough," Princess Izabella stopped her maid from saying any more words. Eleina looked at her highness but hurriedly looked down when she saw the sharp gaze of the princess. Izabella then looked at the man and nodded. "Please lead the way."
The man led them out and started walking towards the direction of throne room. While making their way there, Eleina can't help but notice the state of the once spotless and organized castle. The walls that where supposed to be stainless was now smeared with blood. The furnitures that was supposed to be handled with care are now broken and scattered all around the floor. And the floor that was supposed to be smooth are now filled with cracks and dents.
While Eleina was busy looking all over the place, she noticed that the princess didn't even bothered glancing at her surroundings. She just stared straight ahead with her cold and lifeless emerald eyes.
'Is she acting strong? Or she just doesn't care about the wreckage around her. No, maybe she just can't look at the way her home is looking like this..'
They finally arrived at the throne room. Entering the room, she stared at the middle aged man who is now currently sitting at the king's throne. She can't help but notice that the man sitting in front of them screamed of evilness. His aura, his clothes, the way he sit, and hell even his face screamed evil.
"Nice to finally meet you... Princess." the evil man said.
There was a moment of silence. Then everything went too fast that the next thing Eleina knew is that she was being held down by two guards, forcing her to bow in front of that evil man. Eleina looked at the princess and saw the she too was being forced to bow to that man. The man who killed her father.
"Why thank you for your show of respect, princess," The king said but you can clearly hear the amusement on his tone. Izabella stayed silent.
"Well, I have a proposal to you princess," the king said when he saw that the princess is not willing to speak a single word to him. "Agree, if you want to live. Disagree, and you will die."
Izabella looked up and stared straight at the man's eyes. A few seconds later, she smiled and that smile turned into a laugh. Everyone was bewildered by her actions but the princes did not stop, instead, her laugh got even more louder and louder.
It didn't take long before a slap resounded on the entire room replacing the laugh of the princess. Eleina looked at her highness who's head is now facing sideways. Then she turned her eyes to look at the person who dared land a hand on the princess' face. It was the same man who led theme in this very room. Eleina was so filled with anger that she felt her control slipping. She was just about to make a move when Izabella said something that made everyone stop.
"I will never agree to you. Not now. Not ever."
"You dare!" the princess was about to recieve a second slap when she again opened her mouth and words after words left her mouth.
"I've seen it," she looked at the man who dared call himself king after killing her father. She smiled, "I've seen it...
... your downfall."
Silence fell.
