chapter 1-The beginning

The city moved at its usual pace that morning but for Jenna, time felt different-slower, almost suspended. She stood at her bedroom window, watching the sunlight stretch across the street below. Cars rolled past, students hurried along the pavement, vendors shouted about breakfast specials. Yet none of it mattered. Today wasn't ordinary. Today was the day she and her friends had been waiting for.

Happiness. That word had been floating on Jenna's head all week. For years she and her friends had chased it-through sleepless nights filled with endless pressure of vasrsity life. Happiness had been the goal, the prize waiting at the finish line. They'd promised each other that once they made it, once they finally graduated, they would celebrate like never before.

Now here it was. The moment had arrived. The graduation hall was already buzzing when Jenna arrived. Families filled the rows of seats, holding bouquets of flowers and ballons that bobbed gently in the air. Proud parents whispered to each other craining their necks for a glimpse of their children. The polished floor gleamed under the over head lights reflecting the swirl of colors from robes and dresses.

Jenna spotted her friends across the room-kylie, Mia and the others-laughing near the back as they adjusted their gowns. She made her way over weaving through the crowd, and felt her chest swell with pride at the sight of them. They made it, together.

"You're late." Kylie teased, tuggling Jenna in their circle.

"I'm exactly on time" Jenna replied with a grin though her heart was pounding.

They stood there, a cluster of black gowns and nervous energy, whispering about how to throw their caps without hitting anyone in the face, reminding each other to amile for the photographers, and laughing at inside joke only they would understand.

Wheb the ceremony began, the air shifted. One by one, names were called voices echoed, Jenna felt her leggs tremble when her name rand through the speakers. She walked across the stage her cap slightly tilted. Her gown brushing aginst het ankles. The certificate pressed into her hand felt havier than paper, it felt like proofthat she had survived. The audience clapped her friends cheered and her parents shouted her name, she smilled so wide her cheeks hurt.

As she returned to her seat, her eyes met her friends and in that silent exchange, they all knew the something this wasn't just about degrees or careers. This was about promises kept about nights of doubt that hadn't won, about the kind of bond forged only through shared struggles.

By the end of the ceremony, the hall exploded with joy, students hugged, families cried and cameras captured every fleeting moments. Jenna stood with her group again, certificate clutched tightly in hand, the relief was overwhelming, but beneath it ran a current of excitement, none of them could shake the feeling that this was only the beginning.

And they were right. What awaited them wasn't just a life after varsity-it was something bigger, something brighter, something none of them could yet imagine.
