Watershed
You ever had a love so tragic that was absolutely beautiful? Well I did, it was heartbreaking, intense, dirty, sexual, completely emotional and irrational, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve witnessed. There are people you meet along the way that are just meant to be in your life for a short period of time, to help shape you into the person you are meant to be. The epic love story between Alex and I seemed to me like a long one but now looking back and thinking about it, our story was short but my life will never be the same after it.
It all started with my grandfather getting sick. My grandfather was a ladies man who had a few children out of wedlock. When he got sick he wanted all his children to be together and his grandchildren to meet. Thats how I met my cousin John. Johnny and I being so close to age (only having a two year gap) became fast friends. I would constantly stay at his house and hangout. Soon his girlfriend, Mary, became my new best friend and by consequence their friends became mine. After a few months of this new friendship, Mary decided I had to go to a festival with them and arrive by a bus that all their friends were taking.
It’s funny the way the world works because the guy I liked at first on that bus and the one I wanted to enjoy the festival with was the guy who would later become my friend Vinny, and not the one who turned out to be the epic love of my life. I had noticed the man who would later haunt my dreams but I wasn’t really interested, I was too caught up with wanting to have fun and catch Vinny’s eye. After hours at the festival and everyone splitting up, Mary and I decided we wanted to dance. We got the ones of the group that were with us and went to the dance floor. Franny, one of Mary’s best friends, and Mary were talking about something that had just happened with Alex. Apparently his recent ex was here and so was his side piece and they had both confronted him at the same time. Hearing this I look around the crowd and notice them a few feet from us since it wasn’t so crowded at this time. Alex seemed annoyed and desperate to get out of that situation, then just like out of a movie he looked towards me and just held eye contact.
That was the moment I really noticed him, I shrugged at him and decided to look back at the stage and keep dancing with the girls and the group. He must have decided to just fuck the conversation he was in and joined our group, standing right behind me. I decided that since Vinny was no where around I wanted to have some fun and dance with Alex. So I did what any other girl would’ve done, I danced and stepped back so that my hips would “accidentally” grind against his. I played coy and looked back and apologized when he suddenly grabbed my hips and grinded into me, doing exactly what I wanted him to.
You may think that was the day it all started for us but it wasn’t. It wasn’t until a week later when I decided to invite all from the group for a get together at my house for drinks and smoking hookah that Alex and I started talking. That night we flirted a bit and became friends on facebook, but this night was most definitely a watershed in my life.
AN: Welcome to my story! I really hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it. This will be very emotional but it won’t be all sad and depressing I promise. A good friend of mine encouraged me to write this story and I want to thank her for that. We’ve all had that one love that has changed us, that first epic heartbreak, I hope this story helps you heal. Longer chapters ahead!
