Chapter 1

It was a warm summer night in mid-august. A slow breeze was flowing, as it had rained earlier, making a woosh sound as it passed under the metal sheet in the balcony. Jake was sitting on a half-broken desk chair that sometimes paralyzed his leg due to a sharp metal object sticking out from the side.

His face was dimly lit by the light from his computer. Frizzy black hair moved to the side. In his ears he could hear his friends voice calling his name, but his mind was not aware. He was just somewhere else. His lips dry of thirst, but he could not move because what if she called and he was away. His deep black-brown eyes staring restless on the screen looking in the void, waiting for the perfect person but she had no idea.

Hannah had fallen victim to the very human nature and was deep asleep dreaming just about him but was not there when he needed her. Keith also had to go because his body needed the sleep and however much he tried to stay with his friend, his sleep would not let him. And there jake was, alone in the middle of the night with the most of important people in his life gone for the night and he could not sleep because of her.

He was still waiting for her. The sun rose and his room was now filled with bright yellow rays of sunlight. Waiting for her, he lied down on the bed and who knows when he slept. Hannah had no idea what was waiting for her in the morning.

THE NEXT DAY,

She woke tired and frustrated as it was another school day. Dragging herself up from the warm and cozy bed, she woke up and went to take shower. She brushed her long silky black hair, applied a bit makeup and mascara , put on her uniform and was happy and good to go but all that went away like a mist as she glanced upon all the texts she had gotten from Keith.

Keith is Jake’s best friend, real kind by heart and a true friend. He could do anything and everything for his friend, that’s why he was furious in the morning as his friend waited till the morning for Hannah to call as she said she would, in an hour, but forgot.

He texted her about the whole situation and how she messed up big time. Hannah’s mind broke piece by piece as she read Keith’s texts about what Jake was feeling, she could not think. Her mind went blank.

She was only thinking of one thing, “WHAT HAVE I DONE”.

But THE NIGHT WAS GONE.
