Chapter 1
The definition of love is an intense feeling of deep affection. The way I think of it, love is not only an intense feeling, but an adventure. When you love someone it makes you free. It doesn’t just change your life,
It changes you.
I wake up to my alarm blaring loudly in my ear, causing me to go temporarily deaf. Today is the first day at my new school, and I don’t want to look stupid so I decide to get up and get ready. I put on a pair of high-waisted jeans and my favorite white hoodie. When I get downstairs my mom is making my favorite dessert, lava cakes. “Hey Gabby, I made your favorite!” my mom yells from the kitchen. I sprint downstairs and eat 4 lava cakes in a record time of 2 minutes.
I arrive at school and immediately I feel like an outcast. Everyone is staring at me, so I rush to get to my locker. I’m grabbing my books and checking my schedule, when it feels like I’ve been hit by a sack of bricks. Everything that was in my hands is now scattered on the floor and I have a burning head ache. “Watch where you’re going next t-“, I’m immediately cut off when I look up and see a guy who, might I add, is really good looking. He swoops down and picks up my books and apologizes. He has curly brown hair and brown eyes. As he hands me my schedule he says “You have English too?” I nod shyly. ” I guess we’re heading in the same direction then.” he states.
When we make it to class I can feel everyone’s eyes on me. I hurry over to my desk and get my binder out. A girl with long blonde hair, and blue eyes reaches her hand to me and says “Hey, I’m Jess. Nice to meet you.” I shake her hand. “Hi, I’m Gabby.” I find myself searching around the room for the mystery boy, and I spot him. He’s sitting in the back of the class, on his phone. “So I see you’ve met Brett.” Jess says with a smile. ” um, yeah I guess I have.” I reply shyly.
I’m walking to lunch with Jess and I see Brett talking to a group of guys. He catches me staring at him, and I immediately look away embarrassed. Once we’re a little farther away I ask Jess, “Does Brett have a girlfriend?” She laughs and says, “Honey if I were you I wouldn’t bother. He hasn’t dated anyone from this school. I guess we just don’t fit his standards.” I nod and continue to finish my food. Why doesn’t he date anyone here? There are so many girls, and I don’t doubt that he could easily get them.
When I get home, my mom is still at work so I order pizza and binge some Netflix. I get a text from Jess saying “Party at mine. wanna come?” I haven’t met anyone really so I guess I could go. I mean how bad could it be?
