A good story, but a shame it is incomplete

"I enjoyed this story, it's well-written and an interesting concept. It introduces the world and back story in stages so it feels natural rather than overwhelming. I like the male lead, he is likeable, and how each of the pioneer characters are introduced slowly, giving the reader time to process each of who they are. The author has done well at creating tension in high-stakes moments. However, there were times when I was a bit confused by the time line and had to give it a second read to figure out what was going on, but it's the beginning of what promised to be a good story. It's a shame it seems like it won't get finished."
