Prologue
Zoe's POV
Today is the day. A new beginning. A fresh start at life. How is that even possible at 18 years of age? My parents made the decision thinking that's what's best for us all. Running is never the answer. But how can I blame them? When life out here is incredibly tough.
I live in the Western part of Africa with my parents and little brother. Suddenly daddy tells me we are moving to the United States of America. He has been promoted to the main branch at his workplace. We had two months to pack up our stuff and move to a different continent......A whole new world. How could he do this to me? I have so much here; my friends, my boyfriend, my schooling, family and the list goes on and on. I was given just 2 months to wrap up my life of 18 years and prepare for something new.
The past 2 months had been so difficult; saying goodbye is never easy. Breaking Michael's heart was the last straw. Hurting him literally broke me. It's all in the past anyways. I had dealt with it all and a new life awaits....
Today we are finally leaving. Leaving it all behind; everything we've all built in search of greener pastures. As the plane took off, I couldn't help but wonder what the new world had in store for us.
