Homecoming

I just want to sit with you in the victory garden

Wrap me up in red white and blue

All the boys come home in trucks they travelled so far in

Touch me in a way that only you can do

Kiss me and I will show you I haven't dreamed of another

You look so proud in your navy and brass

With words we don't even bother

Hands up and down my body as we lay in the grass

Happiness is victory and victory is found in coming home

Your face is hard but your eyes are soft when you look at me

Cheers from voices heard in every quiet street I used to roam

Freedom rings loudly over the sea

Someday you can tell me all the places you've been

We've lost so much but gained each other

I'll tell you who I was but for now it's enough to just breathe you in

For now we don't dwell on the wreckage, just each other

Stars and Stripes, banners flying high in the air

It's something from a movie, kissing in the streets

Dancing and cheering for our men from the ground, sea and air

It's been a long, long time and dream a dream of me

God bless our boys in blue

God bless us all as we fight the good fight

God bless me and you

God bless the ones who now rest in a tomb

America the brave, America the strong

Proud as we've every been

There's nothing these men could do wrong

Rest their souls and give us peace as we've never seen

The commander and chief says welcome home boys

The girls run to their men, messing up curls and mascara

We still stand tall, freedom rings out her voice

It's a wonderful thing to live in Nowhere, America

Yes it's a wonderful thing for you and for me

To be in Nowhere, America

It's where the brave, strong and proud can be seen

Little Nowhere, population unknown, America
