Chapter 1

I wouldn’t say that I’m exactly an angel anymore, not since I fell to the earth with Lucifer. But I’m not a demon either. My life is dull for an immortal. Nothing really surprises me or interests me. I suppose that is my punishment from the Almighty. Fitting as to why I fell in the first place.

The bustling streets of NYC and teeming with people. The familiar sounds of how busy it is soothes me. I helped build most of these buildings and the streets though things have changed over the thousands of years that I’ve been here. One thing hasn’t changed though, which is myself. My name is Aziekieril. Azzy for short. I used to work for Azeriel. As for this decade which to me is like a minute to humans, I am a technical geek. Working for both the good and bad guys, no feelings as to who they are.

Whenever I meet a client face to face they are struck by my beauty. It can be unnerving to humans, my perfectly tan skin, long red hair and light honey brown eyes. Standing at 5’8 with curves most of my clients would dream of. They wouldn't peg me to stay at home and be on the computers all day. What they don’t know is that I have to hide my identity, due to the fact that I’m so old. While I walk down this street I felt something stir inside of me. This feeling of slight pressure, a probe if you will of my mind. Looking around I search until my eyes catch a set of stunning violet eyes.

Not again.

She can't be here again. I sent her away, crying with my words and actions. I remember as if it was yesterday but it has been a couple of decades. Knowing that she was going to show up in my small apartment I brought another woman home, along with a man. I was lost in bliss, when I heard her gasp of pain. Shaking off those thoughts I watch her now. No pain in her gaze, just determination.

Walking towards me is a stunning creature of light, her smooth pale skin flawless against her white clothes. Hair, black as night flowing softly in the breeze. Those soft red lips part and tease me.

"Luricia...what do I owe the pleasure-" Before I could finish whatever I was saying, her soft hands grip my face and she plants her lips against mine. She is forbidden fruit, can not taint her...

"I can hear your thoughts Azzy...please don't worry about me, I have missed you." Her violet eyes beseech me.

Finally the world comes back into focus and men were cat-calling us. Frowning I grasp her hand in mine and my our way back to a coffee shop. Can't go back to my place for I want to explore every inch of her angelic body. For Luricia is an angel, what I used to be. Now I just have to figure out if she is here to kill me or not this time around. Stepping away from her, I turn without saying a word and continue to walk on. I heard her frustrated sigh as she follows me.

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...
