Chapter 1
Mary Lawrence POV
I walked into the room to find what i thought was going to be a romantic night with the man i loved.
I looked around to a disheveled room with things knocked over and my love of my life laying unconscious in the floor.
I ran to my man laid in the floor blood pooling from his stomach and him gasping for breath.
I grab for my phone which was tucked into my jeans pocket.
I dial the police a beg for them to send an ambulance.
I give them the address and they say they are on the way.
It will be about 10 minutes. They hang up.
I look down at him wondering what the hell happened.
I wait in total impatience.
I try to put pressure on the open wound to stop the bleeding.
I hear a slight moan come from his lips.
"Baby your going to be ok," i say to him.
He tries to open his eyes and i look more closely at his face and who ever did this beat the hell out of him and made his face look as if it was ran through a meat slicer.
He had gashes on his face and a large slice right above his eye.
His hands were all bloody and broken skin with blood dripping from them.
He put up a fight to who ever it was. I heard a beating of the door and I raced to open the door and 3 paramedics rushed in.
They quickly took a survey of him and put him on a gurney and took him outside the the ambulance.
I hopped in the back of it and rode the short distance to the hospital.
When they got to the hospital they took him directly back to find out the damage done.
I had to wait in the waiting room until 20 minutes later a doctor came out.
"Mary Lawrence?" the tall skinny doctor asked. i jumped up and ran to him. I was a nervous wreck.
"The injuries that were done to Derick were sevier but we were able to stabilize the bleeding and sedate him until he is strong enough to move.
We will be keep you updated on his progress." the doctor said. "What injuries were done?" I asked worriedly.
"There were lacerations above his eye and a deep laceration across his pelvic area and broken ribs." the doctor said.
"So when will i be able to go in and see him?" i asked.
"You will be able to go in and see him tomorrow." he said shortly. "I am so sorry this happened." the doctor said.
The doctor turns and heads back to the er and i sit and look around wearily. There were not many people in the waiting room.
The tv that was in there was playing Wheel of Fortune and i watched the wheel turn and I zoned out.
What could he have possibly done to someone to have him beat like like that I wondered.
Derick owned one of the most well known companies in the US and traded with many companies.
The stocks he had were worth millions and his company ran it well for him.
I took out my phone and called his CEO and let them know what had happened.
"Curtis please let them know that he was hurt and to cancel all meetings until further notice. " i instructed.
I was was a valued employee and just under Derick in running the company. What I said went when Derick was not in command.
No one knew that we were dating at the moment.
We kept that away from prying eyes and everyone's attention.
When we worked together it was strictly work and no funny business but when we were off the clock it was all about each other.
I didn't know what else i needed to do. It was late and i was worried sick.
I tried to relax but it was so hard knowing just behind those doors lay the man i was in love with.
