Chapter 1
There is a fire within
It burns
Flickering
Blazing
Thrashing
Consuming all parts
of myself
Destroying
Wasting
Incinerating
The fire lays havoc upon
My heart, my soul, and my mind
It disintegrates
But also cleanses
The inferno rages inside
Erasing
Refreshing
Invigorating
Though they bring pain unimaginable
And intolerable
The flames bring understanding
Realizations that destruction of the old
To fertilize the new
Though excruciating
is necessary
There is a fire within
It spurs beginnings, rebirth, and creation
From ashes comes life
New life
Which brings a new
Attitude
Perspective
Freedom
There is a fire within
and I welcome it
For it will purify from inside out
And top to bottom
Bless the pain
Burning
Searing
Tearing
For from pain and flame
Comes light
And Liberty
And newness
There is a fire within
Let it burn
