Chapter 1
"Hey Doshi. Long time no see friend?" I say as my legs dangle over the roofs railing. The railing was put up last year, because three girls jumped off committing suicide. Doshi looks up at me. He's leaning up against the wall right beside the door.
"What are you talking about? We seen each other yesterday. You called me to come up here to see you."
"I know, I just missed you, that's all." I say. I really did miss him. Doshi was my best friend, and I kinda fell in love with him, but he didn't know, at least I hope he didn't.
"I know." He says.
He turns his hat backwards and leans up against the wall. He looks up and down very slowly. After I noticed he was looking at me, I blushed. When he noticed I saw him staring at me, he turned away. He walked closer toward me and brushed my hair behind my ear. Me and him knew each other since we were little kids. Even our parents knew each other when they were young. I always liked Doshi, but I didn't know if he liked me too. I would always catch him occasionally looking at me and then looking away. I wasn't an ugly girl. I had auburn light curly hair and lots of freckles. I was short as well. Doshi has blonde hair with black roots. He was tall too. Everyone says we are perfect for each other, but there is one slight problem. Me and him are in different gangs, and our gangs are rivals. I'm in the bloods, and he's in the Crips's. We aren't supposed to be seen together since we are in enemy clan's. He looks into my eyes and brings his face toward mine. Was he...about to kiss me? He pushes away from me.
"I'm sorry, but this can't work. You know why." He says.
"What...Yes it can work." I say staring at him.
The thought of me and Doshi ending our friendship would kill me inside. I loved that man more than I loved my own self. If he were to walk out, I don't know what I would do.
"No, it can't. I'm sorry we can't be friends anymore. You know what would happen if we were to be caught together. We can't risk it." He says.
My heart stops for a split second. It was like my head wasn't working.
"Yes we can. We've been doing it for a long time now. What's a little longer?" I say.
He looks down at the ground for a split second then slowly looks back up at me. He sighs.
"I'm not entirely sure this is safe, but I'll do it for you since your my best friend."
"Yay!" I say hugging him tight. He hugs me back, but then he pushes at me slightly. I let go of him.
"What is it?" I ask him. I could tell something was wrong.
"I wanted to ask if you brought my candy like I asked you to...my favorite kind?" He smiles. His favorite candy was the gummy worms with the candy topped over them.
"Yes I brought them for you. They are in the car though." I say.
"Wait...you got your license?! And you never told me? Wow thought this day would never come."
I raise my eye brows up.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Well last time you drove, it was my car, and you crashed it...no you totaled it and three other cars."
"Ok so? everyone messes up at some point." I say.
"No, no, no, You crashed, but you never even left the DANG PARKING LOT! LIKE HOW CAN U MANAGE TO DO THAT?!" he says.
"Oh my gosh."
"Don't even get me started on the mailbox incident. I am never getting into a car if your the one driving it." he says.
"OK do you want the candy or not?" I ask him. He stares at me like its the end of the world.
"Yes I want the candy." He says.
"OK then let's go get it stupid." I say.
We walk down stairs to the parking lot where the cars were. He chuckles and looks at me as I start walking to my car. I had a sports car. A black challenger with 500 horse power. I unlock my car and open the door, taking out his candy. I hand him his candy and he jumps up in excitement.
"Thanks for the candy."He says to me. He smiles as he opens up the package and eats one of the tiny candies. "Mm they are so good." He says.
"I know you love them and your welcome." I say. He closes the package and looks up at me. My phone rings and we stare at each other in complete silence.
"Are you gonna answer that?" he asks me. I nodd, looking to see who it is. It's my boyfriend, Zach, leader of the bloods.
"Quiet!" I say. I answer the phone and he says he wants to know when I'll be on my way. I tell him I'll be there in a few minutes and hang up the phone. We both sigh as relief sheds through our heads.
"Thank god, he didn't hear or think anything." I say.
"Yeah, but you should probably get going before he wonders where you are. And we both know when your not there when he needs you, he gets very mad at you." He says. "I'm sorry you have to go through all of that. You don't deserve it." He says.
"It's not too bad. I'm fine." I say. "I gotta go now though. Bye." I say to him.
"Wait before you go..." He steps closer to me and hugs me tight, then he pets my hair. "Stay safe and don't get into trouble. I can't save you on your own territory.
"Ok. I will. Bye."
"Bye." He says. And I turn around and walk away.
