Once Upon a Time...

"Once upon a time..."

That tends to be how a story begins. However, we often forget that there were events before that story. The entire universe led to that moment in time, when the tale starts. In the infinite universe, every possible outcome only occurs once. Only once will a specific event occur in the sea of time and space. Anything could be a story. It depends on how you tell it.

Once upon a time, a child sat upon the cool sands of a beach. There was no visible sun, but the atmosphere was ablaze with lights. The moon and the stars twinkled and glared, casting bright rays down onto the child. They slowly stood up, and as their tiny feet carried them toward the ocean, they smiled. The sand shifted beneath their feet, and they danced with the ripples and waves sloshing onto the beach. As the waves moved on land, they giggled, trotting backwards to avoid getting their toes wet. As the wave retreated, they gave chase excitedly. The small person continued their playful dance with the dark waters. Suddenly, the dance ended, as the child slipped, sprawling into the water.

Silence.

The waves quietly lapped at the shore. No giggling bounced off the nearby rock face. No noise escaped the child as they lay still, face down in the ocean.

Although any specific event only occurs once in the infinite universe, many are similar. Everything in existence experiences creation. Everything has a beginning. Everything also has an end. All living things must experience the end of living. For their story, it is the only end. That is because they do not see the impact they have. The dead child does not observe the effects of it's short life. Even the child, who was new to existence, made an impact on the story of the universe. Without the child, the story just wouldn't be the same. No one wants to read a story that never ends. Although we believe life would be better if there was no end, we fail to realize that we crave one. We REQUIRE an end. When a story ends, we can accept it, and move on.
