A sea of emotions

Oh no. I was dreaming again. I looked around me pensively, waiting for some strange creature to come out of nowhere and crush me in half. Or for the ground to open up and swallow me, like I once dreamt. Except I was not on the ground. I was sitting on a cliff, with my legs dangling over the edge. I looked around, taking in my surroundings. The cliff I was perched on was tiny,so tiny that if I moved an inch ,i would be in danger of falling into the ocean below. It was more like a ridiculously tall stalactite in the middle of the ocean. Weird. Then again, all dreams are weird. Just last week, I had a dream that I had been flying over an erupting volcano..... On a ginormous winged goat. The goat would fly low enough that I could feel the heat of the lava, and just as I thought it would drop us in and melt us like butter, it would suddenly shoot upwards again. Laughing as it did so. And it's laughter sounded a lot like my history teacher, Mr. Pierre. That was another weird thing about dreams. The way the people, sometimes even inanimate objects in my dreams had the characteristics of people in my actual waking life. And most them were downright terrifying. So this dream seemed quite mild to me, even though I was perched dangerously high on a tiny rock and there was no way off ,unless i could fly. I wasn't very keen on finding out if I could,so i sat still. In front of me was the waterfall, too far for me to reach, but close enough to see it clearly. All sorts of wild flowers grew out of the space in the rocks surrounding it.There was a rainbow in the extremely blue sky above. It was so bright my eyes watered looking at it. Every now and then, a soft melody floated past with a gentle breeze. After a while, I started to relax, seeing as nothing bizarre had appeared. I shifted my gaze to the clouds above me. They were so close I could touch them. But I was scared I would fall if I did, so I just admired them. I imagined sleeping on one, how soft and fluffy it would feel on my skin. The serene ambience, coupled with the soothing melody made me sleepy. I closed my eyes for a bit, only to jerk awake, seconds away from plummeting into the ocean. I scrambled to find my bearings again, my heart beating erratically in my chest. Boy, that was close. How long would I have to be here? I sat there for so long, all of the calmness I felt earlier had given way to sheer terror. The wind had picked up a little, and I held on to the cliff for dear life. The music was steady now, a soft, beautiful sound that almost lulled me to sleep again. It was almost like the song was being played on purpose, so I would fall asleep and the fall to my death. What a way to die....with the universe serenading me. I would have laughed at such a silly thought if I wasn't seconds away from impending death.

But this is a dream, a tiny voice whispered softly in my head. You won't die even if you fall.

I stared down at the ocean, now a furious clash of waves. The voice was correct. This wasn't real life,so it didn't matter if I fell or not. Once I woke up,everything would be fine. Elated at my discovery, I stood slowly. The wind blew over me,whipping my nightdress all around me. I closed my eyes, arms spread wide, ready to jump. Eve.....................

The waterfall spoke. My eyes flew open ,and I could only watch mesmerized as a face formed in the water.

Eve get up!!!!!!

"Get up? What do you mean?" .

My mind was starting to feel foggy, as clouds began to gather in the sky.

" Eve I swear to God ,you better get your ass up right now or I will drag you down the stairs. "

Hmm. The waterfall sounded like my mum just now.

"Mum???" I called out.

"Eve!!!!"

OK,that was her for sure. I started to panic, because I knew she was going to do something crazy to wake me up. I tried pinching, slapping, even biting myself, but none of that worked. There I stood, stuck in my dream helpless, as my mother's nagging voice grew louder and louder. She was getting scared now, which meant....

I looked down at the ocean.Without so much as a second thought, I jumped.
