Convincing Stage 1
If you have parents that are very sceptical about getting a domestic cat, this is the type of book you need! But if your very young, and your parents are playing hard to get, you may want to start with stage number-one. Convincing.
After getting a dog, I forgot cats even existed… After getting four dogs, I really thought I didn’t need anymore animals. But one day I went to my brother’s dads house. There was a small puppy, her name was Athena. She was very fluffy and small, and is a German Shepard. Little Athena was hyper and playful, and it inspired me... I NEED another animal! I thought, I have dogs, horses, cows, MORE dogs... The list goes on— I started to think again. My Mom wouldn’t let me get another animal, right? I started to ask. All I got was “no.” I wasn’t expecting a “yes” either. I did some research. And here are some “Do’s” and “don’t”:
1. Don’t EVER throw a tantrum about the answer you get. If you get a “no” just say, “That’s ok.. Thank you for listening and paying attention, anyway.” When they see you have a mature reaction, they may think twice.
2. It’s best to talk about getting a cat when they’re not stressing about bills, or working. They may get stressed and get upset. I figured that out the hard way....
3. All I have to say is, be mature, don’t interrupt what they are saying. Just say, “Oh, I understand! It’s your choice not mine” That’s the way you should react.
I also wrote a note to my parents to see if I would get a “maybe” or “I will think about it.” Just give them time... Trust me, it helps.
My Dad is a big softy with animals. He ended up with a “yes” but my Mom ended up with “maybe.” I’m not a big cat person, either. My Mom is more of a dog person, and my dad isn’t either. I really tried hard on this situation. Just be patient with them. You’ll end up with some type of answer!
