Prologue
Date: December 23, 2043
Honolulu, Hawaii 7:46 a.m.
What started as a normal day on Oahu quickly turned into a day from hell. 16 year old Matthew Mitchell had gotten up, as usual, to go to school that morning. It seemed like any other day for a Freshman in his 4th month in high school, for he had just finished his breakfast and was listening to a Podcast about how the United States and Russia were economically, and politically, at war with each other, when he overheard a news report on his television. ‘The Russian Empire is allying up with North Korea and its allies China, Japan, Vietnam, and Laos. President Gaerdsig of the Russian Empire is threatening to launch a nuke at Hawaii at any given time,’ said the news reporter Mark Dedmondson. ’Advisement by the U.S. President Don Carswell is going into effect immediately. All citizens are to stand alert until the threat is dealt with. Please, advise your family of the proper safety precautions and if anything does happen, Evacuation Efforts will be put into effect at the soonest possible time,’ he ended this with ’Now let’s get back to Drake in Chicago…’ and went on with another news report about who knows what. ‘What did they mean,’ Matt thought to himself as he went back to listening to his podcast. ‘It can’t possibly happen here, of all places.’ But, as he would soon find out, it would happen, and it will be more devastating than he could ever imagine, and he would be watching the devastation unfold right in front of his very own eyes.
