1. Unemployed.

Cameron’s POV.

“He is power”

“He is force”

“And he drinks McKerade”

“He is Dylan Schiffani! England’s top scorer”

The energy drink commercial sound stridently during the match half time; it featured Dylan Schiffani, the most famous and ‘good looking’ football star in the country.

The commercial break ended and the referee whistled so the second half could began. I am watching the match at home wearing the English jersey in my pyjamas with a bunch of junk food around me. My name is Cameron Tatlow and I… well… There’s not much to know about me, I’m just a 23 year old girl from London who happens to be a football enthusiast.

Unlike that player on TV I’ve got nothing remarkable on my looks; I’m a short brunette with wavy hair, fair skin and dark hazel eyes with some ugly freckles. I swear there are a hundred girls outside with my exact same features around here!

I stayed focused on the game instead of thinking about my lack of attractive features; England was making some great passes on the field and it was getting interesting, when my brother decided to interrupt me.

“What are you doing?” He sat next to me.

“I’m watching the game, isn’t it obvious?” I said without stop looking at the TV but I could see him rolling his eyes.

“Stop pretending you’re not hurt, sis.” His voice became softer “You know… I’m here if you need to talk.” I ignored his comment and kept watching the game, which made him leave the room.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my brother Kendall! But the past isn’t something I want to talk about right now... or ever.

Derek’s POV.

The match ended with a well deserved victory for my team and country and at the end as usual I approached to the press so I could answer some questions for the media.

“Derek Schiffani! How do you feel after this victorious match? And with the fact your twin brother scored 2 amazing goals.” A cute blonde reporter asked.

“I feel amazing, a victory for us is a victory for our country, Dylan is an amazing player and I’m glad he has proved it to the world.” I replied politely.

“Do you think the national team is ready for the upcoming World Cup?” Asked another reporter.

“Of course we are, we’ve been training hard and if everything works out as planned the cup shall come home this summer.”

“What about your personal life? Are the rumours between you and the actress Diana Weston true?”

“No, Diana and I are just friends. I am not looking out for a relationship right now, so if you excuse me” I said as I walked my way out.

I didn’t lie with the last question as one would do when the press asks you about your personal and romantic life; after my last relationship I promised myself I wouldn’t let another woman get in my life unless she’s really worth it and it’s been a couple years ever since.

I walked my way to the dressing rooms so I could get changed from my sweaty red uniform and head home to get some rest, but as I was walking my way in I realized all of my mates were already gone; except for my twin brother Dylan.

Dylan and I look the same but we’re also very different, we both have fawn straight hair and tan skin, our father is from Venezuela so we’re half latinos but my mother was an American blonde woman from who we inherited the deep blue eyes. Still, I like to shave frequently and keep my hair short while Dylan prefers to let his beard grow a bit and keep his hair a little more messy. I hate to admit it but he’s the hot brother and his narcissistic self knows it. He’s always flirting with every girl who shows him some interest and let me tell you, they are a lot!

Today is not the exception, when I got into the dressing rooms I just found him shirtless making out with some random chick I’ve never seen before.

I turned a blind eye to them and got changed, but after a few minutes of having them sucking their faces out I decided to interrupt.

“Dylan, are you ready to go?”

“Oh sure” He said as he turned at me. “You’re coming with us, right babe?” He turned at her.

And well, that’s my cue to leave.

I came out of the stadium with the paparazzi taking pictures and following me around with microphones and disturbing flashes, it is annoying but I’m already used to it.

Elliot, my driver stopped the Cadillac van quickly so I could get in.

Cameron’s POV.

After watching the match I went upstairs to my bedroom to take a nap since I have nothing better to do as I was fired from my job at the bank recently; can’t say I miss it it was actually very boring, you know? Attending people while I sit behind a glass, it’s not what anybody would think of as a dream job.

Suddenly my phone rang waking me up; it was Rayley, my best friend.

“Ray… What is it?” I said with a sleepy voice.

“Wow, did I wake you?” She asked.

“Yeah, but it’s fine. Is everything alright?”

“No in fact it’s not! Come meet me at the cafe in one hour, I have some news for you!” She said with a happy tone but didn’t she just say everything is not alright?

“Are you excited or worried?” I asked her.

“Well, come and find out! Cheers.” She hung up.

Rayley has been my best friend since middle school, although we’ve always been opposites. She’s very extroverted, flirty and pretty while I am introverted with awful social skills; but I don’t know what would I do without her, more than a friend she’s my sister.

I pulled my hair up in a messy bun and changed into some ripped jeans, sneakers and a loose T shirt from an alternative band nobody’s ever heard about, I don’t even remember where this shirt came from. I didn’t put much effort on my look so I decided to go out without a drop of makeup, that was unusual of me because I always like to cover up my freckles and put on some mascara, but not tonight I’m just meeting Rayley and go back to sleep, what would be the point on dressing up?

I took a cab to that cafe, it was in the middle of the way from my home and Rayley’s and well, we live very far from each other! I live in East London at my brother’s house and she’s got a flat on Chelsea. I came in and saw her sat on a turquoise booth while she was drinking a cup of tea and as expected she looked radiant; her black hair to her shoulder was very shiny and her makeup was on point, wearing an eyeliner style that fitted her green blue eyes perfectly. Rayley is a mixed race person, her mother’s family is from India and her father is a Scottish tycoon, so she got the best of both races.

“Hey Cam!” She waved at me. “Take a sit, glad to see you.”

“Wow you’re really cheerful tonight.” I said while I sat in the booth in front of her.

“Me? No, I’m normal but hey, how have you been doing? Considering you know… your parents…”

Not someone trying to make me speak about the past again.

“What’s this huge news you said you had to tell me?” I interrupted her.

She got a little embarrassed but she moved on quickly.

“So, you’re unemployed, right?”

“Yes.”

“Well… I found you a job!” She said excited.

“Inside your father’s company!?” I got excited too.

Her father’s company is the greatest soda brand in the UK, McKellar Cola. Actually the commercial I was watching earlier was from one of their products.

“Yeah….” She said with a nervous smile. “Nope” Her smiled disappeared. “But it’s better, trust me.”

I had no idea what was she talking about.

“See, my father knows Jace Rowland the owner of the national team and I heard that now that the World Cup is near the team is looking for some people to assist the team during their trainings and guess who suggested her best friend for the job?”

I gasped out of excitement, no fucking way! I’ve always dreamed about working inside the football industry, my father always took me to the Chelsea matches when I was little and the stadiums were always the place where I felt like home, a very loud smelly home but anyway I fell in love with that world and working there has always been a dream for me, even if my mother wouldn’t allow me to work inside the football industry in the past “It’s men stuff” she used to tell me.

“You’ve got to be kidding!” I claimed.

“Nope, I mean it!”

I couldn’t help my joy and hugged Rayley while she was still sitting, I started thanking her and almost strangled with my hugs, she laughed and pulled me apart softly.

“So, when do I start?” I asked her with a smile on my face.

“Right away! I heard the team is having a party tonight and well… you’re now part of the team! Even if they don’t know that yet.”

My blood pressure decreased… Sorry, what?

“Rayley we can’t intrude to a party with the players!” I told her with concern.

“Yes we can, now come on get your arse up and let’s go.” She stood up and walked to the door.

I sighed and followed her… why do I do this to myself?

Rayley has always been the one who impulse me to do crazy stuff I’d never picture myself to be doing, that was good and bad at the same time because thanks to her I’ve lived some insanely fun experiences but some others hasn’t been that fun.

Yet here I am again, following her crazy ideas and God knows what kind of anecdote will this become in the future.

Derek’s POV.

While Elliot drove me home I just kept thinking about my brother and his habits, just wondering what fun does he find in fucking random girls? I mean yes sexual pleasure obviously but is it enough? If you ask me I’d say it’s not. I don’t like having one night stands, I don’t enjoy taking advantage of my fame and wealth just to get my cock inside someone every night, no. That’s not my thing.

I actually enjoy connecting with people; I do like romance and everything that comes within and I guess everybody likes to be loved sometimes, even Dylan. He’s just too self-absorbed that he is content as long as his ego and carnal pleasure is satisfied but I sometimes feel sad for him, I hope he finds someone who loves him one day.

“Are you alright, boss?” Elliot asked me making me snap out of my thoughts.

“Yeah, I was just thinking about Dylan.”

“Oh right, where is he?”

“He just found a new girl to get his end away with.”

“I don’t mean to be intrusive but why don’t you go out and have some fun too? I know the team is having a party tonight, I can drive you there if you’d like.”

Elliot more than just my chauffeur is my friend, he’s seen me in my best and worst times and I can say he is one of the few people I trust with my life. I knew he was giving an honest advice and well, maybe I should take his word on this.

“You know what? Take me there, I think you’re right. I need to enjoy myself too.”

So he drove me to the party, but little did I know that decision would make my life change forever.
