Humming
I hear the humming again coming down the hall from my parents’ room. I shiver from how creepy that voice is as I get out of bed and quietly walk down the hall to their room. Their door is open slightly and so was mine. That must be why I was able to hear this horrible humming again. Like before I see the lady standing on mommy’s side looking down at her. Her hands together over her heart as she sways slightly. Her hands are all bone and muscle as my lip quivers not liking her there. I walk up to the other side of the bed. Daddy isn’t here right now so I get in bed and shake mommy.
“Can I sleep with you?” I ask her as she stirs.
“Why sweetie?” She asks me as she rubs her eyes slightly. I try not to look at the lady standing beside the bed.
“Had that dream again about the Lullaby Lady and when I woke up, I heard the humming.” I tell her as I look at her as my lip quivers slightly, not wanting to go back to my room alone.
“Sweetie I think you just hear the radio or something. Who is the Lullaby Lady?” She asks confused slightly. I guess she doesn’t remember.
“She’s an old woman who has no skin on her hands.” I tell her.
“Why do you call her that?” She asks me blinking a bunch of times.
“Because she stands next to your bed and hums while you sleep.” I tell her as she sits up more her eyes going wide.
“Sure sweetie of course. Just let Daddy put the house up for sale real quick.” She says alarmed as the lady disappears with a cold burst around us.
