Once again, the girl with the handmade fringe was sleepless. The moon’s brilliance outside her window let her know it was half past twelve. Half past the number of times she tried to evacuate her addiction. Twelve times without victory. She stepped from her bed to sketch an integer that demanded to be rid from her head. The paper was freshly soaked from her own making, so she dried it with a pen and the fire of her past. When she strode from the desk, all that scarred it was the face of a man. And a thirteenth abortive endeavor.
