Chapter 1

Strange things happen at night

when the darkness engulfs the light

In the kingdom of Away

no children should stay

for The Hollow lures the children in

and there, their souls perish from within

She was awoken at the stroke of midnight, by a voice so beautiful and bright.

It called upon her from The hollow. An entrancing echo.

It hushed her to sleep, but haunted her in her dreams

She wanted to follow, but needed to stay away

She was awoken the next night, by the same voice

It urged her to run to The Hollow. That captivating chant

It persuaded her to go, halting her resistance

She had to follow, she couldn’t stay away.

She left the house barefoot, dressed in only her nightgown.

It led her along a strange path. The mantra that mesmerized.

It lured her into the woods

She followed, only to fade away

She got closer, and the voice got louder

But in the back of her mind, she heard a whisper so kind

It was the fairies, pleading to her to turn around

She paused, and hurried back where she came from

She started to go home, but the whisper came back

It told her to turn back around, that hypnotizing hymn

It led her over obscure obstacles, through thorny thistles

She was close to the forest now

She could see the forest now, she was almost there

The fairies screamed to her in despair, Stop!

No, don’t come here, stay away!

She could barely hear the fairies, for the wood’s voice dominated her mind.

She was by the edge of the forest now, one step left

The fairies screamed at the top of their lungs

The other voice just laughed, for it knew that it had won

She took the last step, her soul disappeared into The Hollows.

Strange things happen at night

When the darkness engulfs the light

because of the failure of their warning

the fairies are now in mourning

she is nowhere to be found

and her soul is forever to The Hollow bound
