Chapter 1
There are days when just feel happy. Like when your monstrous alarm do not ruin your beauty sleep, when your mother cooks your favourite dish, when you leave your house for school on time and easily find a parking. I mean that is too much happiness in just starting hours of the day.
Well, that's my definition of having a good day.
I was walking on the grounds of Linkon High Academy.
The building was as old as Albus Dumbledore (yeah, even i don't know how many years it has survived).
As I made my way to the school hallway, a loud voice cut through the daily commotion.
The voice sounded more like my name.
I turned my head in the direction of the voice. I didn't know tomatoes could speak. I mean yeah I once did write an essay about talking potatoes when I was seven and here we are talking about a tomato not a potato. But I never realized my words would have such an impact that they would start calling my name.
But this tomato was quite different since it was flying towards me. Maybe he likes me or maybe-
And all my thoughts came to an abrupt stop once the flying tomato said hello to my face.
By puncturing it.
I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt.
Loud gasps filled the hallway until I heard someone's laughter. Without even opening my eyes I knew it was the trio.
Emmet Benson stood with all his glory, smirking at me while his two side dancers, Jordan and lee fell on the ground howling with laughter.
Well, I should have seen this coming.
I accidentally threw a volleyball at Emmet's face yesterday. It's quite simple. You see a ball coming, you duck.
It's not like I did that on purpose.
But I wish I had.
But who am I to judge?
Simple rule, right?
You see something flying towards your face, you duck!
Not so simple I guess, I sighed starting to feel the soreness in my face.
Stupid slow reflexes!!
I looked back at the trio. Lee and Jordan were now fortunately stable, and were not gleeing anymore. Emmet still stood with that stupid smirk plastered to his face.
"YOU.ARE.SO.DEAD.!"
I said each word slowly, emphasizing the assurance of my words.
He chuckled and walked towards me. His dancers were trailing behind him, still trying to control their laughter.
"Aww look at you, all red"
He stood in front of me and lightly pinched my cheek.
"How badly do you want to kill me right now?"
He asked, amusement still visible in his face.
Idiot was enjoying my misery!
"Well, I've already come up with a murder plan without me having to go to jail" I huffed.
Inwardly cringing at my own stupid comeback. Seems like that damn tomato may have hit my head too.
"Well, you know what they say
payback's a bitch."
I rolled my eyes. I knew exactly how this was going to end. I'm going to plan my sweet revenge and he'll rat me out to his girlfriend. I've been stuck with him since kindergarten and surprisingly we both hated each other's guts since then. It was actually pretty hilarious that even my younger self never tolerated him. I was pretty nice and innocent back then and loved making friends. I guess that's how I got stuck with him.
No no... I never considered him as my friend. I don't really remember because it's been years now, but I've heard it from my parents that on my first day to school I punched a boy who was trying to eat my gummy bears. And guess who that lil boy with a black eye was...
Yes, Emmet Benson!
I actually got stuck with him because of my best friend, Sage Lloyd.
I've been friends with her for almost all my life. I don't know how we became friends and I guess it doesn't even matter anymore. But we've been best friends since childhood. She's beautiful, smart and humble and the head cheerleader of our school. And yes, she's quite popular. Unlike me.
But she made a foolish mistake back in highschool by deciding to date this stupid jerk-face who was still smirking at me for throwing a goddamn tomato at my face. I still don't understand what she sees in him. She's too good for him.
I'd like to think that maybe she's dating him because he's the captain of the soccer team and maybe that's what people expect her to do.
You know the whole cliché
Head cheerleader dating the captain of the soccer team.
Ughhhh but deep down I know that's not the truth.
" Already started thinking about the revenge, eh?" Emmet flicked his fingers in front of my face to grab my attention.
I scoffed
"I don't like to call it revenge...
Returning the favor sounds nicer"
I smirked as I walked away.
You just declared war, Emmet Benson.
I still had few more minutes before my class so I quickly decided to go check my face in the restroom. Luckily it was back to normal and not all reddish anymore. I huffed as I made my way back to the class.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and I checked to see Sage's message.
S-Where are you??? You're gonna be late!!!
And she was right. I only had 5 minutes left before the class starts. I'm pretty sure if I just pushed everybody aside and ran, I'd be able to make it on time. But I knew it wasn't an option. Sucks!
I quickly replied to her, letting her know I was on my way when I clashed into something.
More like someone.
My phone slipped and fell on the ground. Shit.
I picked it up and checked if it was still working. But nah. The screen was broken!
"Watch your steps,kitten"
I focused my glare towards the voice and was about to say some pretty colorful words but stopped as I looked at his eyes.
My breath hitched as I stared at those damn ocean blue eyes. I was captivated by the darkness and the intensity. Like they held the deepest part of the ocean. Those eyes could burn a hole in me. Maybe it was the proximity that I was so enchanted by the depth of his eyes. They actually had sapphire color in the center and the darkness of the color grew at the curves, the colors mixing well with each other like hiding a secret from one another. His eyes were like the ocean in the spring.
"See something you like, kitten?" He asked in his deep honeyed voice.
It took me a moment to gather my thoughts and actually look at the speaker.
He was a foot taller than me and and was well built up. His muscles hidden behind his denim jacket. Maybe he's also in the soccer team,
I thought. A slight smirk glued to his face.
I scoffed as I said
"Dude if I had a face like yours, I'd sue my parents"
Ofcourse I was lying, he actually had a very attractive face. With his high cheekbones and his straight button nose, he'd be quite popular among the girls. His tanned brown skin was complementing with his raven colored hair. He was handsome, no doubt in that. But I wasn't going to admit it in front of the stranger. My pride would never allow it.
"Atleast wipe off your drool if you plan on lying" he chuckled softly and bumped his shoulder against mine as he passed by me.
I was still a little dumbstruck by his melodious voice when the sharp ringing of the bell pulled me back from my thoughts.
Shit.
I'm late for my first class.
