Prologue 1/2 (Cei Orthel)

August 25th... Friday morning, the big day... the one i’ve been waiting for all year. Moving day! The day where lil’ old me finally gets out and lives on her own! I look at the boxes on my bed, packed with clothes, things, memories, trinkets, most things you’d need when moving out! Well, as they say, all good conversations start with an introduction. So hello there! Name’s Cei, Cei Orthel! I’m a 14 year old girl who’s about to start the next chapter of her life! I think that’s what i’m supposed to do here... i’m still a little new to these kinds of things... hehe... Anyways! You may be wondering, “Cei, how are you living on your own at 14, is that even legal!?” And the answer by default... is No! Absolutely not! However, due to my research, i’ve found that certain schools will offer a dormitory system for kids to stay in! I think it’s a little different from a boarding school... but I can’t exactly think of what it’s called right now... anyways! That’s where I’m going! Now this probably raises another question, “Why are you going to a boarding school?” And the answer to that question, is... well, the High school that I should have gone to here, doesn’t offer any of the programs or courses I need... while this school does! Plus, it’s a lot less strain on my parents... so, in the end, everyone wins!

Stepping outside, I place the boxes in the back of the moving van. The final few. I turn back around to our home, where we’ve spent our entire lives here, in America... “Goodbye... i’m moving away now... but it’s not forever! I’ll come back and visit sometimes! And one day I’ll come back! You just wa-” - “Cei, who are you talking to?” I spin around, only to see my brother. My bro’s got really light hair, from a distance it may look blonde. But it’s really just a light tan, just like me! His hair droops right below his neck, and it kinda spikes out a little bit. He has to go to work after he dropped me off, so he’s wearing his uniform. Just a plain, boring movers outfit. “Oh, no one. We ready to go?” My brother nods, “All set. You said goodbye to Mom and Dad...?” I nod, “Yeah, It’s sad to leave them... but i’m coming back on vacation! So it’s not all bad!” My brother nods, “Right... we should get going, then.” My brother climbs in the front of the moving van, I follow him into the passenger seat. My brother works for a moving company, so he agreed to help me get all my stuff to the school, and get it all out of the van and into the house! He’s a really nice guy... sometimes. Other times he can be a total jerk! Like that one time he put the bucket of water on the bathroom door... I still haven’t forgiven him for that! My brother sighs, as we begin driving. “It’s about an hour and a half away from here...” I nod, “Yeah... but honestly! This was the closest school that I could do this in!” - “Yeah, yeah...” The radio was off, his stereo was muted... it was dead silent, the only noise being the occasional bump we would drive over... “...Think mom and dad will be okay with me gone...?” He pauses for a moment, “Yeah... they’ll be a little bit upset, but they’ll be fine. They know you aren’t too, too far away.... Also, knowing you’re visiting during vacations definitely sets their mind at rest.” - “Great... i’m glad to hear...” - “...You know, it’s gonna be a lot quieter without that enthusiasm of yours... it’ll definitely take getting used to.” I scratch my chin, looking up at him. “Eh? Whatta ya mean?” - “It’s just gonna feel weird, not waking up every morning and hearing you preaching about that whole, “New day, new you! Give it your all!” Thing... you know?” - “Well, just because i’m not there, doesn’t mean you can’t be positive about it!” My brother chuckles, “I guess you have a point... you’re certain you packed everything?” I nod, “Yup!” - “Including the box...?” - “How could I forget it?” My brother nods. Another wave of silence sits down next to us... eagerly looking at the two of us, waiting for us to say something. Eventually, my brother breaks it, “So... how have your uh...” - “Hmmmmmm?” - “You know...” - “...Uh... apparently not...” - “How’ve your tics been?” I go quiet... he knows I hate it when people bring that up... “...” - “...Sorry...” - “N-No, it’s fine... they’ve... been fine... they only happen when I lay down for the night, and when I get nervous... or anxious... or...” - “Yeah... I get it... anyways, we’ve got a bit of a drive ahead of us. So, get some sleep if you’d like.” - “O-Okay!” I look out the window, tiny droplets of rain racing each other down the windshield... I look at my phone, noticing a notification... it’s from my friend... Altum![↋>Altum<3 - “Hey, you on your way now?”]

[Le’Sea - “Yep! Be there by lunch!”]

[↋>Altum<3 - “Alright, want me to come over...? I can help you get moved in.”]

[Le’Sea - “Nah, I got my brother here with me. He’s gonna help me!”]

[↋>Altum<3 - “Okay, I’ll stop by and visit you later, okay?]

[Le’Sea - “Oki! See you later!”]

Altum lives at the school i’m going to as well... it’s part of the reason I chose to go there... I lay my head against the window... “I’m gonna miss you all...” I stare out the window... thinking about what’s to come... and with that... I drift off... to a new land, beyond my own thoughts.
