Chapter One

Shooting the zombies I give an annoyed glare when the gun runs out of bullets, this is why you never trust a gun. Throwing the gun in the air, my knife coming in contact with the abomination behind me, cutting its head off. Another gun fully loaded falls into my hand. Jumping up I back flip over the 'zombie' shooting it mid air. I huff looking around when I landed 'it seems I just attracted more of them. I use my speed to get to a ladder near a building climbing to the top avoiding any zombies. I fall silent when I hear something, something I haven't heard in 10 months.

An engine.

My eyes widen and I quickly climb the ladder looking over the edge of the building. Eventually I saw a small group of about 4 or 5 and a truck behind them housing another person.

I'd rather not make contact with them, however I was curious. I climbed down the ladder backing further into the alleyway. I sit down pulling out the first weapon I used in this apocalyptic world, the stereotypical baseball bat. But seriously it helped. It's slightly dented and has a small amount of blood on it.

I bang my metal bat on the wall and two zombies slowly walk towards me. I back up onto the floor taking a deep breath and start gathering tears in my eyes, holding the bat close as if it was my life line and waiting. Once the zombies got to close I screamed. My eyes were closed but I herd some grunts from the zombies.

I 'hesitantly' open my eyes seeing the most handsome man in front on me with his forest green eyes his midnight black hair- wait Alex no, your in the middle of an apocalypse right now no oggaling men.

I relax slightly looking at him with a slight blush. I was half acting right now and I cursed the side of me that wasn't acting.

The handsome man smiled making me shiver, he holds out his hand to me and I hesitantly grab it. at this point I don't think I'm acting anymore. He pulls me up like I'm a blow up doll, my hand tingled from his touch.

"Are you alright?" He was frowning slightly- god his voice was amazing

"u-um yes t-thank you" I say quietly again cursing my stutter, even though I've always had this annoying stutter. I've been cursing a lot of things lately.

His face brightens up, he studies me staring at the bat in my hand and the small amount of blood on my jumper. "Are you bitten?" I shake my head no and he nods. I noticed we were still holding hands but didn't say anything until he started walking, forcing me with him.

"What the hell jay, don't go of on your own like that!" I heard a female voice shout and I winced, she would attract a lot of zombies. She had strawberry pink hair and light blue eyes, from what I can see she's taller than me, probably around 5'6. The man- or Jay was sensible enough to wait until we got closer as to not shout "it was only two zombies no big deal Jess"

"Sure no big deal" the guy next to her said, he had golden blond hair, brown eyes and dyed blue tips. 'Wow how edgy' note the sarcasm. It was hard for me to not roll my eyes.

I tried to get back into character my hand 'shaking' and my body huddled together as if to make myself small. My eyes still watering but clear curiosity in them that wasn't fake, after all I was curious of this small group of people.

They were all laughing like a group of old friends like we weren't in a zombie apocalypse right now. They were probably drawing more zombies out.

A voice knocked me out of my thoughts, quite light and sort of soothing. I look up to see a girl with brown eyes and ginger hair wearing some shorts and a short sleeve top. Like an actual top. One that not 'ripped' at the bottom. It didn't show any of her stomach, like seriously those crop tops are so impractical.

"Hello who are you?" She spoke quietly as if half trying not to scare me. I look in her eyes then shifting them toward Jay, then back to her. "U-Um my n-name is uhh-h A-A-All-ex Alex..." it took a surprisingly long time to get that out, I guess I am a little nervous, i haven't seen a person in 10 months after all. And I've always been a bit of a loner.

"Aww he's so cute!" Jess squealed and I winced- She's going to atract more zombies, seriously how stupid. I see Jay slap his face and I giggle slightly, suprising even myself. I blushed horrified, my pale skin shows everything.

My attention goes to Jay staring into his bright green eyes- they were beautiful. He had a small smile on his face making my face all the more red.

"Ahhh oh my god you are so cute!" Jess says jumping up and down clapping, I started to get nervous when she started walking up to me her hands kinda wiggling in front of her. I look away and tense.

Then my saviour, Jay pulls me to him my back connecting with his stomach. I could feel the firm chest behind me and relaxed into his hold like a noodle in water, surprising myself. I don't like to be touched but this beautiful man that I've only known for 20 minutes I've completely warmed up too.

Jess stops her decent towards me pouting "heyyy that's not fair don't hog him Jay!" She whined. "Couldn't you tell he was uncomfortable?" She pouted again "I only wanted to pinch his cheeks!" He looks down at me and smiles "are you okay?" I nod my head furiously "t-thank you".

His face brightens and he pulls my relaxed body closer if that's even possible. I leaned against him, not caring of the people watching, The heat of his body enveloping me and my eyes seem to involuntary flutter shut, no matter how hard I tried I took a shaky breath and surrendered myself to relaxing darkness.
