The Alpha and the Swimmer

I went to my dresser grabbed my swimming gear and went to go to the shower. I turned on the hot water and thought about all the things that I needed to do today at the meet. The most important thing that I always remind my self is that if there are cute boys there, DONT GET DISTRACTED! I got distracted one time at a meet when I was younger and I got second place because I didn’t see that my teammate was back and I left the podium late but I still got second. I will always remind myself not to get distracted by anything.

I got out of the shower and I felt like something amazing will be happening today. “Do you feel that Paris?” I said to Paris, “Yeah, I can feel that today will be a great day” Paris said back to me. I got dressed and headed downstairs to have breakfast with my parents. “Good morning sunshine,” mom said to me “Morning mom, where’s dad?” I asked “The alpha asked him to help with the Warriors” my Mom replied placing a cereal bowl in front of me. My Dad is the best warrior in the pack to he was permitted to highest warrior, so he rains me and it’s harder than the other warriors because he’s my dad. “Thanks, mom, I need to do training, you think Dad will be able to train me after the meet?” I said “ Yeah you’ll have to shower after though, okay? And please don’t let swimming be the main thing, you are the best female fighter in the pack, so you have to help your Dad with trining the pups.” My mom replied

“Yeah, I’ll have to fix my schedule to have swimming and training in it so then I can do both,” I said. I finished eating and started to put my bowl away when I looked at my watch and saw that it was almost 10 o’clock.

“Shoot, I have to go or I’ll be late, bye Mom loves you and tell Dad I say I love him and that I’ll talk to him about a schedule for training and swimming,” I said grabbing my bad and phone while running out of the house. “Bye honey, good luck and be careful” my mom yelled as I closed the door. I ran to my jeep and opened the driver's door. I plugged in my phone and drove out of the driveway. My Dad was pulling in as I was pulling out and I waved to him as I left to go to my high school.

Right as I was about to turn in to my high school when my best friend Tara’s contacts pop's up on my phone. I press the answer bottom “Hello my best friend” I say “Where the heck are you, you were supposed to be here 20 minutes ago” she yelled “I know! Calm down I’m coming in now” I say getting out of my jeep. “Hurry coach has stalled so you can be here, she’s taking to the recruiting guy to keep him busy,” she said worriedly. Once she said that coach was talking to the recruiting man, I don’t think I have run as fast as I did.

I ran into the school building and saw Tara waving her hand at me. I was about to jog up to her but I ran into a brick wall, I stumbled back a little bit then I remember what I was doing, I shook off the shock. “I am so sorry, excuse me,” I said to the person “It’s okay” is what I think they said but I couldn’t hear them because I was already gone.

“There you are, coach started talking to him about his kids,” Tara said, “I’m sorry, I was talking to my mom and didn’t realize the time and then I ran into someone, but I’m here now and ready to swim, and to get what we have worked so far for, the scholarship,” I said trying to calm myself down, “okay, as your best friend I really want this for you but as your teammate, I am going to say this one and only once don’t freak yourself out! Wait that can be as your best friend and teammate, well what do ya know” Tara said

“Black! Get in the water! Hughes thank god you're here, come with me I want you to talk with the recruiter before the meet” Coach Jordan said to me and Tara. Tara went to walk away but I pulled her back and mouthed “don’t leave me” no one likes an angry Coach, she pulled away and mounted “I’m sorry but I’d rather not” and then she ran.

Coach Jordan pulled me to where the recruiter was and introduced me “Mr. Robin this is Saige Hughes, she’s one of my seniors and my best swimmer” Coach said “It’s so nice to meet you Mr. Robing, I am sorry for my lateness, I was speaking with my mother” I said shaking his hand “No, that’s alright, your here now and that’s what matters. After the match, I would like to interview you and talk to you though but I think your meet is starting, you might want to go”

I looked at the clock and it said I had one minute left, “of course I would love to talk to you, but yes you are right I must go” I said leaving with Coach Jordan. “Did I do okay?” I asked coach “You did perfect, but now we need to worry about the meet and you need to show him you deserve that scholarship!” Coach said, I laughed “Yes Coach,” I said and walked to go and put the rest of my gear on.

I could feel Paris pacing back in forth in my head, she was worried but she’s always on her a-game when we are swimming. “Paris? What’s wrong?” I ask, “I smell something, something different, but I like it” Paris said. “Well, we can tell dad about it later but right now we need to focus on the meet,” I say for it was almost our turn to go into the water. Coach always uses me last because I’m the fastest. “Your probably right, but I feel like someone is watching us” Paris said, I started to get nervous because she never felt like this.

I knew I had a second before I had to go in, so I looked around, and there I meet the most gorgeous green eyes, they were staring right at me. I shook them off, I had to get the scholarship even if that guy was watching me. I had to win! I kept repeating to get distracted, don’t get distracted, not again! Not again! Don’t get distracted! Then it was my turn and my teammate touched my hand, Then I jumped.
