Chapter 1

There used to be a girl who works in a hospital, she’s a nurse there based in the emergency room and her name is Gia. She doesn’t get easily scared because she works in a medical field where she constantly sees squirting blood, inside of a human body, saddest and worst of all dead body cause of incidents or sudden death from old people.

One day Gia is working on a night shift in the emergency room and to her shock, it’s been almost 12:00 am and there’s still no emergency calls and cases. She’s with their head nurse and one of the emergency doctors waiting for an emergency and some of the nurses and doctors are sleeping on the patient’s bed it’s 12:00 am and there still no calls.

“It’s quite creepy but it’s 12:00 am already and there’s still no emergency call, it’s shocking,” I said while sitting beside my head nurse.

Then they all looked at me in shock and annoyed, even my colleagues who are sleeping, “don’t say the q- word it’s a known myth in the emergency ro-” before Dianne, one of our emergency doctor finish her sentence she suddenly interrupted by a ring of a telephone.

Ring ring ring

We all looked at the phone ringing and they all take a deep breath and they all gather at the front of the nurse station where the phone is ringing and they looked at me annoyed and I feel bad but also thrilled because I can now work. Not that I have a fantasy about blood or the human body but maybe I can learn something new from every patient.

The head nurse answer the call,

“Hello, this ***** Hospital’s Emergency Room what’s the emergency?”

“A- man has been slit on his th- throat because of a hostage we’re on the way to the hospital 5 minutes away.” said the person on the other line in panic.

After asking questions about the patient our head emergency doctor starts giving us order and after 5 minutes there comes the emergency patient and I just got the chills what I see.

He’s a wrinkly old man with blood squirting and dripping blood on the floor coming from his neck where a long clean slit but to my shock he’s conscious and he seems so chill and not minding the pain. I’m the one who’s been tasked to clean, hearing the dripping of his blood on the floor gives me chill so but I pulled myself and clean his neck while other of my colleagues putting ECG and checking upon him.

When I was done cleaning his wound I was shocked when he grabbed my hand so I looked at him and we both met eyes, after a few seconds of staring at each other I suddenly hear the ECG sound when people’s hearts are not beating anymore. While they’re trying to bring him back by performing CPR I’m scared because he’s eyes still on me wide open I was so scared to the point that I run outside of the room where he’s been treated and just go to the nurse station and my mind is flying everywhere while sitting.

The patient died and was taken into the morgue luckily I’m not the one who’s tasked to take the body there because if I am I will probably lose my mind and quit my job so I can breathe clearly now. I am so traumatized that I asked the head nurse for an early leave to go home and she let me but told me that I need to go to work earlier later and I accept it.

From a tiring late night work I go home at exact 2:00 am, I take a bath and wear my pajama then not forget to pet my cat, Stripy, who has been waiting for me just to pet him and after I petted him he always goes under my bed where he had his own bed. So I ready to sleep, climb on my bed turn off the light and sleep it didn’t take long for me to finally sleep because I was so tired and after a minute or 2 I finally sleep.

I was awakened by a liquid dripping sound and my cat licking my hand. After all, my hand is like hanging on the side of my bed because my bed is small but I didn’t give a damn about the dripping sound and try to have my sleep back but the dripping still continues. So I checked my bathroom to check if I forgot to turn off the shower but when I check it’s off so I go back to my bed and try to sleep again and I did.

But not long enough I was awakened again by the same thing and my cat is still licking my hand and there it goes a dripping sound again this time I don’t know why I did it but I checked the time it’s only 3:03 am instead of being scared I’m annoyed so I go out and checked the sink in the kitchen if it’s leaking so that I can call someone to fix it later morning. But the sink is completely dry so I go back again to my bed.

Not long enough my cat is licking my hand but I can hear the dripping sound again so I just focused on the dripping sound and where it’s coming and it keeps getting louder and louder and as I focused on the dripping sound it becomes clearer and clearer to me where it’s coming, in the Cabinet. So I get up to my bed and while approaching the cabinet I asked myself, “Did I hanged some wet shirts there.”

I approach the cabinet and open it but it takes me some time to see what’s inside because it’s so dark in my room for the reason that I didn’t open my light, but when I can now see the inside of the cabinet because of the light outside coming from the moon, it’s- it’s my cat, Stripy, he had a big slash in her neck and that moment I know where the dripping sound coming from while looking at the dead body of my poor cat suddenly the image of the old man patient at the hospital flashed at my eyes so I took in so much shock I step backward and I reached my bed and my knees get weak so I sat at my bed and then in my horror something under my bed speak and said, “Not only cats can lick.”

THE MISFUR-TUNATE PACK

Etexdan: Enjoyed the Original story. I think you did improve this story very well. I saw a few misspellings, but I don't judge because I'm the worst and it did not distract at all from the rewrite. You are a very good author that is easy to read and enjoy the story. Keep up the good work.

Alex Tate: Most mafia romances tend to revolve around brutal men and women who are either painfully naive or trying way too hard to be tough.
