Did you hear that?

Did you hear that?” cried Molly, peering from the kitchen store room,

“I’m telling you, there is definitely something out there.” Molly was determined not to be defeated.

Molly, worked part time, as a cleaner at the General Hospital, it was the only thing they had. Her colleague, Sharon, preferred not to speak, only to get on with the job.

“There it goes again, are you listening to me?” demanded Molly a second time.

“The sooner we get this job done, the sooner we can get out of here, and then I wouldn’t have to listen to your superstitions” retorted Sharon.

“So you did hear something?” Molly continued

“All I heard was you” replied Sharon, sarcastically.

“No wonder they couldn’t get anyone for this job and with an attractive salary, I knew it was too good to be true.” Molly was beginning to sound defiant as she said this.

“Will you stop talking and let’s get on with it, you’re beginning to give me the creeps.” Sharon was getting annoyed at the many questions.

“Are you not the least bit curious as to why this was given to us?”

“No, I’m not!” screeched Sharon, terrifyingly.

“I don’t know, I want to work but then again, I don’t want to work in here.”

The kitchen, was situated in the basement, the hospital had two floors. The last of the kitchen staff left over an hour ago, leaving the main keys to Molly and Sharon to lock up when they finish. There was an eerie silence, all that could be heard were the footsteps of Molly and Sharon.

“What was that?” Molly screamed out.

“Will you please stop that?”

“There is something in here with us, can you not feel it”

“No, I just want to get out of here quick before you start freaking me out”

The two of them mopped in silence, first the kitchen area, then the foyer and last, the hall and corridor. Just as they were beginning to pack away their utilities, Molly, decided to have a last look around.

“What is it now?” gasped Sharon

“I’m just curious”

“Of what!”

“The noise is not there anymore”

“Well, let’s get out of here quick”

“No wait!”

“What for, we’ve finished everything”

“No, I need to find out something, wait here for me, I’ll be back in a minute”

“Where are you going, don’t leave me alone here”

Molly took off, across the long corridor and up a flight of stairs and then she heard it again.
