Bumping into a Dove

Ginika’s POV:

Dang, I am tired. It is seven in the morning; what kind of right-minded human is up at this time... to do something... like work. Right, I am.

I picked up my lip gloss and started applying some to my lips. Life would be so much easier if you didn’t have to do so many things to look like an eight on the beauty scale. Some people are naturally lovely. A ten out of ten on the beauty scale. Others like me are enjoying the “I am an eight on a good day” sort of situation. But that is completely okay because I have realized my purpose in life is to make the beauties shine more. Yeah. That sounds about right.

I analyze my features in the mirror. My skin is dark and beautiful; at least I know that. Somehow, my Nigerian genes messed with some of the white men, resulting in my receiving a sharp European nose. My lips are big and brown, and my natural hair is protected by a wig. I am attractive to an extent. Yeah.

I looked in the mirror for the final assessment. I did it. I am eight. I stood from my vanity and checked out my outfit. The black dress was doing me well. The silk reached to my knees, and the sleeves went to my elbows. I may have stumbled in my walk a few times, but modestly has always done me well, so we are pretty close.

I gripped my briefcase, took a look around the apartment, and left. I like my house because my car is conveniently right outside. My car is my baby, my lover, my 2018 honda accord. The car does its job, and that is what is essential.

Driving to work is one of the best parts of my day. It is the peace before the storm because only the Lord can save me as soon as I enter the building. It is not as if I have a big job like a senior lawyer for the company. It is just that my seniors don’t understand the concept of doing their work. I mean, I get it, I am fresh out of law school, but does that mean that I should be given double the workload? If that is my portion, I send it right back to the sender.

Before I know it, my company’s building starts coming into view. It is an outstanding company, fifty floors and all.

I turn my car into the company’s parking lot and breathe. I remember there was a time when I wanted to make a change with my life, like help people. Now I am helping millionaires make more money. Oh, how the turns table changes. It’s cool, though, because my bank account is not complaining.

I get out of my car and make my way to the entrance of the building. One step, then the next, checking my phone for anything, and I do mean anything. What kind of right-minded person is checking their voicemail while walking to work? But this thing is drier than the dessert. Then suddenly, my body collides with another.

“Sorry, are you okay,” I say while picking up my briefcase that had fallen down.

“Yeah, sorry, I am fine,” a deep voice replied. When my ears were blessed with the sound, my head was forced to snap itself up and meet the face of the exquisite voice. Excuse me, since when were such fine males working at this company? Just as I started to speak, he talked again.

“Again, I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to bump into you. I just wasn’t paying attention.” His hazel eyes made contact with mine, and my legs lost their balance. But his perfect looks didn’t end there. His eyes complemented his slicked backed hair. His skin was perfectly caramelized. The bread brought his features together perfectly. Since when were men like him just living?

“No, no, it is fine. I wasn’t paying attention either. You know, just trying to pass the time before entering the building.” The second that lame excuse of a joke left my mouth, I had to put my head down in shame. Then my ears were met with a chuckle. A chuckle.

“Naw, I get it. The boss of this place should really make it more tolerable.” I could feel his eyes waiting to meet mine, so I looked up once more.

“Yeah... anyways, we should go inside before we are late.” My brain was taking a million pictures of his face so I could remember what I wanted8 when I asked God for a husband. After a moment passed, his voice spoke again.

“Of course. Let’s go.” One of his hands opened the door and angered me.

“Thanks, bye.” My legs walked forward while my eyes locked with his for the final time.“Bye.”

Ezra’s POV:

It is 8:30 in the morning. It is truly a blessing from God to see somebody that beautiful this early in the morning.

As she walked away, the only thing I could bring my mind to was her beauty. The second her eyes meet mine, I was at a loss. It was like swimming in a heavenly black ocean. One that I never wanted to leave.

Then she had to said that we should go. I mean, what was a guy supposed to do, take her as a hostage? Was I supposed to ask her for her number or something?

As I was thinking over my options to make the angel from heaven stay a bit longer, some obviously deranged man started shouting while approaching me. I turned my head slowly, and to no surprise, it was my best friend Eli, who greeted me with a slap on the back.

“I know that I have asked you this several times, but I want to ask you one more time, are you well in the head?” I asked him. This is a question that seems to come out of my mouth whenever Eli and I are together.

“Better than ever,” he responded. Wiggling his eyebrows. I am always amazed at the fact that we are friends.

“Why do you have a dumb look on your face.” Eli hit my head while asking me.

“Because it is 8:30 in the morning, and I have encountered a beautiful angel.” He looked at me like I was crazy.

“A beautiful angel. Here?” Eli looked left, then right. I don’t know if it is the amount of time that I’ve known Eli or that he acts the way he does, but I feel my IQ decreases when I am with him. But that would only make me dumb because I hired him as an executive at the company.

“Don’t you have a meeting to lead?” I gave him a tired look.

“That is an interesting question, and you know I would love to answer it, but I have more important things to attend to.” And with that, Eli was speed walking away from me. I shook my head and entered the building as well.

As I entered the building, I felt several eyes draw towards me. It is probably just the fact that I am the CEO of the company-the big boss.

It is not as if I didn’t work for the position, though. My grandfather started the company in India with the concept of a company that does everything, hence the name Entirety. When my dad came of age, he took over; he focused on shopping centers all over south Asia and specializing in specific products. When I was old enough to work at the company, I started collaborating with companies internationally and created opening shopping centers internationally.

At the end of the day, I was the best candidate for the CEO compared to my brother Kaara. Kaara, never really have any interest in taking over the company in the first place, so his accomplishments for the company were smaller than mine. Even so, Kaara was the most suitable person to be my right hand, man. As I entered my office and sat down, one thought, and one thought alone was on my mind. The stunning dove I bumped into.
