~The Starting~

I never gave much attention to how the world would end but yet here we are, people are killing each other just to survive. I hate that it has come to this and if you’re reading this then, well, you’re about to hear our story. ~ Keegan

~The Starting~

I woke to the sound of beeping next to me. When I opened my eyes I’m meet with fur on my face. Sighing quietly, I take Pouya, Chris’s cat, and put her at the foot of the bed. She mews happily when she sees that I have woken up and starts to rub herself on my legs. Smiling, I get up out of bed and yawn. I turn around and pet Pouya on her ears. She purred deeply. “Good morning princess,” I say quietly. Once I’m done petting her, I get up and walk out of our room and into the hallway.

The hallway smelt of pancakes and bacon. Smiling, I walk down the stairs to see that Chris was in the kitchen.

Chris was standing in the kitchen when he heard light footsteps from behind him. “Ah well, rise and shine my prince.” He says without looking at me. I laugh quietly. “Good morning,” I say, heading over to the island in the middle of the kitchen. Hopping up on the counter, I tap the heels of my feet on the cabinet doors softly. “I have an interview with IMPACT today,” I say with a little bit of excitement.

“Oh? Well, that’ll be fun.” Chris replies as he goes over to the cabinets and gets two plates.

I nod and look outside of the window above the sink. Sighing contently as I watch the snow falling slowly to the ground. That’s when I felt someone grab my legs. Startled, I whipped my head back around and saw Chris standing in between my legs smiling at me while his blue eyes seemed to dance with excitement. “Babe!” I exclaim in surprise when he lifts me off the counter. Chris just laughs and carries me to the living room.

When we enter the living room he sets me down on the couch and sits next to me.

“You know that we have only a few more minutes until you have to leave for the interview right?” As soon as he said that I flew off the couch and ran through the hallway and our bedroom door.

When I got ready I walked out of our room and grabbed my car keys off the counter. I could see Chris waiting by the door with my bag ready for me. I smiled and walked over to the door.

When I grabbed my bag he pulled me into a kiss. I returned it but pulled back and opened the door. The cold seemed to nibble at my nose when I walked out.

Walking to the car was probably the worst part of winter so far. I slipped twice and then I had to pry open the door because it was frozen shut.

Once I get into the car I turn it on and pull out of the driveway. Making sure that the coast is clear, I start to drive. After about 3 minutes of driving, I turn on the radio and listen as it declares that there is something wrong. I immediately get quiet and listen to the news reporter.

“There have been reports of people attacking others! Please stay with your loved ones as we evacuate the town! I repeat stay where you are and stay with everyone you love while we evacuate the town!”

After the report ended, I immediately drove on in search of a good spot to make a U-turn.

When I finally make it back to my house, I see Chris standing in the doorway anxiously waiting for me. I pull into the driveway and get out of the car while he runs over to me.

“Keegan! Have you heard what is going on?” He asks in a frantic voice while he pulls me into a hug and drags me inside the house. When inside, I can see that Chris has been at work making sure that no one will hurt us...well more like no one will hurt me.

We stayed in the living room for a while until I got tired of the silence and turned on the tv to see what else we could find out about the whole situation. After watching the news for a bit Chris had enough and turned off the tv.

“Chris calm down!” I yell while he just looks out the window at everyone running away from other people. “I’m just confused and worried I’m sorry baby,” he says softly, turning around and looking at me with a sad look.

Hours later, we finally decide we need to get moving, so we grab our backpacks that Chris packed, and we leave with a sad glance at our house before walking down the street.
