What is your opinion?
Deserved to win
"I was extremely impressed with this story when I saw it was the winner and read it, I just thought 'Yep, it had to win' if felt like something written by someone who lived in that time. I loved it all, though the parallel version of Wash 'Cash' he wasn't as witty/funny as Wash, but I put this down to the fact his is from a different timeline (And the fact I haven't seen much/any of Con-Man so I don't know what that character is like). So it didn't take anything from the story. Wish there was more."
They all end too soon.
"Title says it all. Joss' curse carries on to this author. All your eyes want is more. There's never enough."
Looking forward to learning more about this!
"Clearly this is a highly imaginative tale with curiously interesting characters. Even with the limited time in this sample for character and plot development, I can see there are clever characters and an intriguing story line including the possibility of interspecies cooperation. I like that it doesn't shy away from a suggestion of sex during space travel, something seldom touched upon in sci fi. I suspect this turns into a rousing action tale worth reading but the limited sample size limits my ability to say more. Keep up the good work!"
Pretty well perfect
"I am facing a serious conflict of interest here, because I really love my own story (Autumn Flower, currently in #4) and I have an inordinate hankering to see it at #1 on the list, since it's shaven down from a much longer novel that I've been working on for a bit over 4 years. I know every vote counts, so I'm withholding my own upvote of your story hostage, until such time as I can see it clear back into third place. Strategically, I dare not act to my own detriment. That being said, I *LOVE* your story. It's well-written, mildly humorous, in character, catches the language of the Firefly/ Serenity 'Verse well, and it has a fun premise. So in the spirit of writerly camaraderie, I'm giving you all the stars and a nice juicy review, but you won't earn my heart until it's all air through the engine. Wishing you the very best and hoping I'll get to read more of your work. :-)"
My Firefly bug has returned!
"This story put me back on Serenity with all the characters I loved. It also heals the wound received from the great movie Serenity, with the quick and unjust surmise of Wash. You’ve got to love the power of good science fiction. J. Brooks has done it here and I want more! James Frost"
I watched it this Netflix
"I swear this could've been a crossover special I caught on Netflix. Mr. Brooks' writing is visual, witty, laugh-out-loud funny, and hits all the characters on the nose. Nathan Fillion was speaking the lines into my ears, along with all the others. That kind of attention to detail, plus the various episode nods and the recurring avian theme, puts a brilliant polish on something that can only be described as the epitome of "Shiny.""
