Chapter 1
A child, not man nor woman, shall end the rain & the skies, they shall bring about demise, fear their father and fear their father given power for he shall bring about doom.
As the sun beat down on me, I looked around the desert, the place I’d called home for the better part of 18 years. I never really wanted to know where I came from, whether the sands crafted me or the waters birthed me I didn’t care. As long as the sun rose and the animals kept grazing I was content. However, something changed as I came upon the largest city I’d ever seen, I’d come upon communities before, never to this extent though. I entered, large Mud-brick buildings dominating my peripheral and people bustling about, bargaining and trading amongst one another none noticing me and if they had, they cared little as they saw I had nothing to offer. What drew me here I didn’t know, usually, I’d walk right through any communities or go out my way to avoid them but this was different. This place almost called me over to it, the long roads felt like caves I had to explore, wasting time walking through each one of them felt like my day’s quest. As soon as I entered the city’s limits my attention was drawn to a large white building, standing far larger then all else at the epicenter, I entered it and felt a strong burst of air hit me, and in front of me stood a large man-like creature he was taller than me, brown-skinned with a long and decorated beard, the beard was braided with gold-laced throughout, his clothing betrays a sense of royalty and importance. At his side was a saber and hanging off his bicep was a sickle. His presence brought it with it a constant steady stream of air circling the room we were in nothing strong enough to hurt or unbalance you but strong enough to be noticeable. I stood ready, not sure what was in front of me but understanding that if I let down my guard, the worst will happen.
Slowly, I pressed my hand at the grip of my socketed axe, “What the fuck are you,”
“Relax child, I’m not here to hurt you, I’m merely here to escort you to your home,” The figure said his voice a deep yet piercing bellow.
My hand now firmly wrapped around the grip, ready to swing at moments notice I answered “I don’t have a home” through gritted teeth
Suddenly I feel my self lifted off the ground as if by an unseen force “WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” I yell over the sound of crashing winds.
“I already told you young one, I’m taking you home,” The man said as we left the large white building and began flying upwards towards the skies, I struggled and struggled but couldn’t move a muscle as the winds controlled my every move, eventually we landed upon a golden rode guarded by an abnormally large bull with great big wings, I turned to attempt to jump off but the sheer drop of the fall seized any such plans. As if reading my mind the figure responded with “I see you’ve come to your senses, now come along,”
Seeing as I had no choice, I followed him. We began walking around and as I looked up I saw six more skies above us each more luminous and precious then the last, A different stone creating a dome-like structure for each sky.
“Hey” I felt a gust of wind smacking my face down “Pay attention, we’re here.” I look ahead and see a building and begin feeling a sense of estrangement, I look around shakily, my body covered in goosebumps and an itchy feeling. “Everyone here is my enemy I’ve been brought here to die. But for what? I’ve done nothing, but maybe that’s it! I was supposed to do something and didn’t do it, maybe that’s why. Fuck shit fuck. I should run! but where? I’m surrounded and they’re all watching me, I bet they can read my mind! THEY KNOW WHAT I DIDN’T DO!”
But before I could take a single step I was pulled to my knees by another force of air force my movements for me, I tried to stand backup but an unfamiliar voice spoke to me, shook my deepest core “whatever y’all are, I want no part of it, leave me be or I’ll wear your blood like warpaint!” I forced myself up the air still attempting to stifle my will.
“I mean you no harm child, but an audience with you is required” the voice spoke to me as I willed my body towards theirs, I stared sizing them both up, they shared many features both dressed the same but with a clear power difference.
“What’d you want,” I demanded as I returned my hand on my weapon
“Do you know who you are child,” She asked clearly expecting a no,
“Never cared much to look,” I replied unsure of the course of this conversation
“You’re the child of Gilgamesh and an unknown second party,” she said expecting me to know who the person she just mentioned was,
“Look your...I don’t know what you are, but I do not know who Gilgamesh is and I don’t intend to find out so if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be taking my leave,” I said knowing full well that if I don’t leave now, I may never.
“Sit down!” She demanded forcing me still
“Fine, let’s say I am their child, whoever they are, what does it matter to you, either of you, you’re clearly not human, why does my life matter to either of you,” I exclaimed clinging to my cool.
“Because child, neither are you.”
I instantly lost my footing I’m not sure how but I knew she wasn’t lying her words, so matter of factly that it instantly clicked, with four words she shook more then any gust of wind ever could, I knew she wasn’t lying but I didn’t know how.
