Chapter 1 ~ The Publicity Stunt
Richards POV: (Harry Styles Manager, and 1D’s manager)
I stood with my back pressed to the door, eyeing of Eloise. She couldn’t be serious. But of course there was nothing more series about Taylor Swift’s manager.
“Its alright Richard.” She said addressing me. She gestured to the chair at her desk.
“Imagine what this will do for their career,” she continued.
I reluctantly took a seat and crossed my legs over. The news hadn’t really settled in properly. I peered at her through my glasses, half in disbelief but mostly in shock.
“I don’t know if this is a good idea.” I spoke with thought on my mind, I was reluctant to go ahead with such a stunt.
“Oh don’t be a bad sport.” she told me. “Don’t be like that Richard, positive thinking.”
I sighed; maybe I was being a bad sport. I couldn’t deny it; I had taken the news badly, I was only seeing it one way the bad way, but maybe in fact if wasn’t allowing myself to see the good side of the plan.
Eloisa had explained to me a very interesting publicity stunt. One that would go in either a good direction or a bad direction. I didn’t want it to go in a bad direction and I knew she didn’t want it to go in a bad direction either, but the stunt was pretty important to getting Harry back in the media for all the right reasons and not the wrong ones. I managed Harry Styles career and Eloise managed Taylor Swift career. This was different then the group management, I not only managed their individual lives but the group as well.
Say six months back, Harry and Taylor fell out of love this was in 2012. They broke up after they were spotted in New York for New Year’s Eve. During there three month date it created lots of news articles and everything was concentrated on Harry and his new love, and media were betting Taylor would break his heart like she had done with the many guys before. The stunt Eloisa explained was simply to give them a baby to take care of the media would be all over it, thats what we both wanted. I realized it was a win-win situation for both of us except them if they didn’t take care off the baby... and themselves during the time.
“So what do you think?” Eloise asked interrupting my thoughts.
“It’s a win-win for sure,” I told her. My mind started to change a little towards the idea, it would be perfect if it panned out and even if it didn’t, it didn’t matter.
The baby would go back to her parents after two weeks if it went well or if it didn’t. We would make up a back story on the babies history, bind them together and get the publicity in the mean time.
“Of course it’s a win-win,” she told me smiling “I would never have plan a stunt that would wreck us Richard.”
I laughed at her, she was serious about that too, I knew it, but we had never done anything like this before.
“Shake on it.” she said, I leaned over her desk taking her hand in mine “Deal.” I promised her.
