My Dead Piggy: A Tormented Boy
"Ripping Out a Child's Heart The story, My Dead Piggy: A Tormented Boy, by John Duran, evocatively shows us of the brutality and savagery that comes with bullying. The time period that takes place in the setting of the story is 1976. While growing up in the 1980s, one still becomes reminded of how barbaric human nature can be. It is alarming that this still occurs in our society. With the antagonists who were older children, continues to alarm us in the 21st century. Bullies continued to inflict pain on animals (even though the animal was deceased) as well as to other people. At first read, I was abhorred how these boys exhumed the body of a dead Guinea pig and subjected it to further malice and cruelty. The word that comes to mind is psychopathology sociopathy. This type of behavior should not be tolerated or excused. Some people would state that the perpetrator is a victim themself and is acting out of the abuse they are going through. Nevertheless, the trauma that was inflicted upon the victim, has boiled my blood and stirred my soul. The author of this story had to see the cruelty in these other deviant's minds and no child should ever have to be this traumatized and to feel the pain these savages put him through. The author of this story had me engaged and very interested in finding out what happens next. The flow is very smooth. I thoroughly enjoyed the introspection because I could feel the pain, outrage and sadness that this young child had gone through. I was reminded of my own experience with bullies and how I overcame the mean things that were said and done in my life. The protagonist in this story is thoroughly developed and I could relate to the experiences of the tormented boy. John Duran eloquently describes these cruel acts very well. Yes, there are some graphic parts to this story, but it is shown to the reader very professionally. This is very impressive to me, and I enjoyed reading this story immensely. "
How is this guy able to write?
"Yet again, im amazed. This author has gone through such insanity, yet his words are poetic, and intense. By all rights he should be in a sanitarium, not writing these stories. Apparently, he has fought his past demons, and somehow survived intact. Please keep these stories going friend. The world needs your voice."
Amazingly emotional story
"It is an extremely sad and shocking story. Author written it so well that you can literally feel what he felt and became enraged due to injustice he experienced. It makes you cry and than clench your fist in anger. It shows how unfair and cruel kids can be and that very often there are no justice. Hopefully those bullies eventually get what they deserved. The author shared something very sensitive very openly. True gem story!"
Story Review
"Your story is quite compelling. I found that I could relate to your experience even though I did not share that trauma specifically. I was also a lonely and isolated child. I survived by living in my imagination and through the stories written in books. I still read as much as I can as an aging adult. There is a level of comfort in your writing. I felt as though I was sitting across from you at the nearest coffee shop listening to your experience. I wanted to hear more particularly about how your move affected you. Were you able to find friends or at the very least other kids of like mind to interact with? Were you still bullied at your new school and how did you process that? As a writer I imagine that you spend a lot of time on your own. Are you a natural introvert or are you an extrovert that is able to compartmentalize your profession? Thank you for the story. I will watch to see if I can find and read more of your story."
A better writer than I could ever be.
"I enjoyed the blatant honesty of the soil. The prose got slightly purple and it felt like it could flow slightly better. With a slight bit of refinement, this is an absolutely wonderful bit of story telling."
