The Only Chapter

It was the year 2050 where technology advanced into a cyberpunk-theme future. My name is David, a CIA agent tasked to infiltrate Better Living Industry secretly known as BLIND to help negate the possible terrorism in our nation. The role I was given was of an assistant secretary position to gain access to meetings that may be suspected for any possible insider attacks. I know I wasn’t cut out for that role, but before I felt I’ve given up hope, the CIA invented a top-secret device known as SHIFT which helps alters one’s appearance changing their sex. My temporary Alias is Dina. Not only will I be able to mimic their appearance but also their physiology and certain psychological traits. Of course, it was altered a bit to maintain my male psychology and feelings, but the certain female traits stayed to help me on my mission. I was chosen due to my espionage skills and the top-tier female spies were currently occupied in other dangerous operations.

I was able to infiltrate with ease due to my career as a spy, and it was a challenge to act and be like a woman. My mother told me to always respect men and women regardless so that helped forged my identity. Agent Melony is a close operative to the point I've been able to understand her ways. I'm considered a sponge in soaking up someone's personality. In truth, Melony did give me access to her 'codex' in maintaining a convincing female persona. She said I had potential due to some of my characteristics having a feminine trait to it.

Proceeding to working as an assistant secretary, I’ve continued to dig up information listing several corruption deals with corrupt politicians. Regardless of political sides, both parties were corrupt in their ways. I later had trouble dealing with men flirting with me having to negate their advances. I one time had to subdue a middle-aged man who groped me when I was picking out some files. That man reported me to HR for physical violence, but the HR was a kind lovely girl around my age who knew I was getting groped due to footages in the vicinity. It was swift that the man was immediately fired, and I made a new friend.

I immediately had a crush on HR, whose name was Jane. Jane became my friend who we grew very fond of. If I was in my guy form, I’d be jolly and decide to court her. But since I’m a girl, I’ve decided to remain platonic and focus on the mission. However with Jane being an HR, I could have more information for any illegal operatives from BLIND. I also feared she may be a BLIND operative as well, so I kept her close letting her know more of my female persona. Due to my saboteur, the operation remained fruitful to the cause making a lot of BLIND operatives and executives be arrested when acquiring the information. Before I could celebrate, Jane received the blunt of BLIND backlash. The remaining executives were panicking, being rash towards Jane who she might have given information to the CIA allegedly.

Jane was able to defend herself knowing she had no part in this, but she was in low energy. Since I cared for her, I decided to spend time with her to lessen the pain she was going through by doing what girls do to bond time with each other. Cinema, sleepovers, and being emotionally connected with her liven her up. However, it already implies I have feelings for her. She’s pretty, intelligent, and emotionally caring. I felt awful; I wish I knew her in my guy-form, being able to share this bond and perhaps even strengthening it further. I could tell she was into me as well, because I figured she was bisexual. No matter how much I tried to break away from it, we ended up making love countless nights and mornings in the office hidden somewhere. A fleeting blissful feeling in which I’ve absorbed but later in depression knowing I can’t stay in this form for long since it has a limit until the operation is complete. She seemed bothered by several things; it could be BLIND, it could be me, or her allegiance to BLIND. A part from me wants to run away with her starting new lives… but only in my guy form. She called me one evening to visit her apartment which I did in a heartbeat. Perhaps it’s time I say who I am because I cannot in good conscience live with this feeling. Upon making it to her apartment, I immediately dragged her into the living room saying who I am.

“Jane... I’m sorry. But my name isn’t Dina, it’s David.” Then unveil my true form.

“Uhm David, yes? Well, my name isn’t Jane. It’s John.” Then a man unveiled before me.

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
