Chapter 1

Pain, Fire, Death

The whole world was ablaze, blood on the floor, staining my hands. My eldest brother in my arms.

Dead

The person who raised me was in my arms, not breathing, not moving, just....gone. We were in a house, the house was on fire and my brother in my arms. I hadn’t paid attention to the fire until the fire flicked my elbow leaving a burn. I looked up, everything was fuzzy from the tears in my eyes.

We were surrounded by fire. No exit, we were trapped.

I cursed at my own foolishness, not paying attention to my surroundings. I knew I should get up and fight, what he would want me to do. I just couldn’t........ I couldn’t bear to leave him, Brushing his bronze hair away from his face, I cradled his head in my lap.

Ace... my eldest brother, the only person who understood me. He raised me, he trained me and now.... all those jokes he told me and encouraging words, they were never going to come out of his mouth again.

It hurt.

My body was practically full of burns, but that was like a papercut compared to the pain of losing my brother. It hurt so much, it hurt to even breath. It was like my heart was being stabbed over and over again. I was drowning in pain.

Now we were practically engrossed by flames, they were coming down on us,

Let it fall.

I didn’t have the strength to fight anymore. If I would die, I would gladly die beside my brother.

Flames hit my back, burning my back. Things became out of focus. Then the darkness was coming to swallow me up.

Death has finally come for me.

Death had tried to get me, multiple times. I avoided it again and again. But this time I welcomed it.

I embraced it like an old friend.

The red flames became fuzzy, letting the darkness consume me.

Everything was pitch black.
