Thought 1

It is as I sit here with a steaming mug of tea and after a rather long day of work that I begin to process my thoughts. You see, as I work they tend to get tangled and twisted in ways that only those hardened few retail veterans can relate. I see someone who has wronged me, in some way or another, and instantly visualize some rather choice words that I can never actually say. It is a sad and morbid cycle that repeats over and over, only becoming more vicious around the holidays.

In fact, it is the holidays I hate the most. Most people see signs of Christmas and think of all the food and music and presents with their families around the tree. I see one speck of a red stocking and immediately am sent reeling with all the thoughts of yelling and screaming, pushing and shoving, and all around glittery chaos that comes with my line of work.

Let me repeat myself just to be clear. I hate the holidays. That isn't to say that I despise my time with loved ones or music or presents, but the things I have to go through should at least earn me a vacation. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Now whoever is reading this may think to themselves that I'm just wallowing in self pity. Oh contrare, my dear friend. I am merely spilling out the thoughts of thousands, laying bare what many in my field would like to say for themselves.

But, to be more honest, I think I don't actually hate the holidays as much as I hate working them. The waves and waves of people always complaining and berating me and my compatriots over the messily price of $2. If anything, it's people that I've come to hate.

So the next time you see that picture of a cabin alone in the woods asking if you would spend a month there and get paid, think of me and those like me who would rather live out the rest of their lives as hermits than have to appease one more Karen in the world.

Cora: Decent story. Slightly predictable turn of events but I didn't think at this point it was a possible twist! I enjoy the stream of thought writing style this has, though some proofreading and punctuation could help a few spots. Recommend this for ebooks and forgive a few confusing errors. Enjoyable t...
