The Twins

(Unedited)

All I could hear were the screams so intense, so unbearable.

All I could feel was Adrain grabbing my hand and pushing me into the car with my dad yelling for us to get in.

All I could see was the blood, oh how much blood was pouring out of people's wounds.

Worst of all was I could smell the eight feet grey aliens standing prideful at the unpretentious humans beneath them.

As my father started the car gathering people to shriek for our help.

"Kids listen-." My father starts but, it was too late a group of human soldiers marched towards the car, grabbing our father. "Go leave" were his last words, but I couldn't move. I was frightened.

Adrain sprung into action as I just stood there and watched him take the keys and drive off.

"What about dad. Where are we going." I sobbed.

" I don't know but, dad told me that we were the key to fixing it all" He talked so rushed I knew he wasn't lying he was afraid.

I examine the car spotting an envelope with our names on it sticking out of the compartment.

"Adrain I, found a note addressed to us." I see him glance and nod his head like he was directing me to read it.

I open the envelope and find a letter and to keys inside.

My precious twins,

If you are reading this, it means they got to me before I could explain to you both what's happening. I am so remorseful this burden has fallen on you both but do not worry. You will have help from incredible people.

Riana, My influential girl, you have been trained to seek the vulnerability of those who persecute you. Stay strong as you will be fighting people five times your size. But as you say, size is nothing coordination, is everything. In the back seat, I have packed a set of throwing knives made by yours truly. I love you so very much.

Rian, My clever boy, you might not be as proficient in fighting as your sister but, you know to fix what people may think is impracticable. Use that huge vocabulary of yours even when you think people find you uncanny it is what I love most about you. I have packed a set of tools for you my, brilliant engineer, which will help you fix the ship and bunker in times of need. I love you so infinitely much.

Inside this envelope, you both will find a set of two keys for the ship and one for the bunker, the coordinates the car has set are leading you to the bunker where you will meet your team.

Defend the people.

The letter slips through my fingers.

Defend the people.

I grasp the keys and glance at my brother, who seems to be in a daze of hysteria.

"We need to follow the coordinates go," I practically shout shaking, him out of his bewilderment.

I watch out the window, the buildings are, knocked down. The windows, shattered, and dead bodies everywhere.

The buildings converted into trees and, the streets rolled onto the grass as we entered the woods.

The car came to a halt, neither of us daring to move.

"We must do this for father Adriana,"

I knew he was right. It made sense why we trained so hard.

"Okay, I will scan the area watch for any signs of danger," I was no longer terrified, I lock my emotions out. Like I was taught to do.

I must be, strong I must be strong, I repeat over and over as I examine the area, my eyes landing on a hatch concealed into the grass.

"Adrain, bring the keys, I found something." My voice was emotionless.

I notice the keyhole as my brother looks at me we, stare at it for a while.

"Just give me if it's a trick ill deal with it myself." What's the point everyone we know is gone.

I shove the key into the shaft, rotating it to the left.

'Francis twins welcome," A voice speaks before the hatch opens, letting us in.

My brother flinches while I shrug and start making my way down the ladder.

Because on the other side of fear lies freedom.
