Prologue - The Story
It was called "Shallow Bliss"
And it goes like this;
Avery Ellowease Lupton was the main character of this novel, she had five love interests who seemed to be captivated by her elegant beauty. The male lead was the first prince Elan, typical, slightly. He was the rightful ruler to the throne, but was overlapped by his brothers shine which was Second Prince Xario.
The second prince wanted to do nothing but seek revenge on his father who murdered their sister and mother. Most readers disfavored the second prince for this reason, a vengeful heart was never attractive. It was confusing how his somewhat good motive ended up being shrouded as a terrible deed. The third male lead happened to be a imperial knight, strongest in the nation and his name was Giles Slater, once again, typical trope.
The fourth male lead fit the readers taste quite nicely and actually made a fuss to the writer to change the ending of the novel because of it (she didn't comply). His name was Felix Stone and he was the villain in the story, dreaded and cast away from the kingdom because of his own desire to have peace, he was supposedly the third prince that went missing. And finally the fifth male lead, popular as well as unpopular, The smart younger scholar who helped with military advancements for the kingdom. Close friends with the imperial knight of course, Elliot Farrell.
Avery was a commoner who had been adopted by some sweet Nobles. Her life as a child was dreadful, parents killed in front of her eyes remembering the murderer clearly. She grew up wanting revenge which could only be granted if she attended Ehofose, Institute of Arts & Magic, other known as a Royal Academy. Quite the double standard since Avery and Xario wanted the same thing, but one was disliked for it. The school had plots and scheming to cause war and conflict in the kingdom. As well as the reason her parents had been murdered. While being granted special acess to attend the academy, she started to become friends with the first prince and fall in love, whilst also drawing her other love interests in for a loop.
In the end, Vania the villainess and Felix the villain, died, their obsession with the main characters lead to their deaths.
Then there was Mellow, a side character in the novel. Her role had no significance. She didn't die tragically nor did she receive a good ending. She wasn't close with the princess or villainess. The girls family was a tool that was loosely connected to the second prince in order to achieve his goals.
When did she appear in the story?
Roughly forty-five times, only to tell information to the princes informant, talk with another side character at the royal school, and find out more information just to hand it over. Her character wasn't dynamic, mostly flat, she wasn't conveniently one of those pretty side characters like other novels. Just absolutely normal.
She was mellow.
The villainess nevertheless was quite the beauty, a femme fatale. Her personality was mysterious and seductive in society, but to the male leads she just seemed like a bug. However to deny that her looks weren't as gorgeous as any other was foolish. Of course, the heroine matched up with her beauty and established dominance over the villainess with her charm.
Looks alone doesn't win someone's heart, personality is key, and that's exactly what the heroine had...before Suna transmigrated into this novel.
Suna knew the fate of the villainess, just as the strategic woman she was, dying from execution was not going to be something that she would go through.
Whilst Suna captured the hearts of many, and reshaped the villainesses reputation as she grew up, Sumi remained stagnant. Her encounters with royals and special characters in the novel never happened, it wasn't like that made her feel bad, it's just that's how it was.
The only reason Sumi found out about Suna is because of the deputante ball of Vania's went differently than normal. Seeing the second prince Xario ask the person he despised as a child to dance was shocking. The invite to the ball should've striked more caution in Sumi to be honest, but doing an actual activity was better than worrying about the facts.
But soon the two became sort of friends, of course it was natural they didn't get along.
Sumi was more reserved whilst Suna was confident.
That's why Mellow decided to watch the story unfold, and not get involved.
She was gonna live her life as the side character once again.
