My beginning
Soaring. Gliding. Feeling the air ruffling my feathers, lifting me higher. Seeing the world shrink. The ever-growing, ever-changing cityscape that normally towers over me making me feel small, beneath me. Tiny beings moving between buildings, barely seen as the clouds graze my back. Droplets of water clinging to my fur. My powerful wings beating against the air currents as my tail whips about behind me. My legs and paws tucked to my underbelly, talons of my front paws grasping at the breeze. A cross between a caw and a roar escaping my beak. The golden orb setting in the horizon, pinks, purples, and golds blending together to color the sky as a background to my flight.
I snap awake, bolting upright as I breathe heavily. I look around to see my plain old room, the morning sun peaking in the blinds, clothes scattered on the floor and chair. Books stacked everywhere. "Just another dream," I whisper, shrugging off the blankets. Getting dressed I head downstairs for breakfast.
"Hey mom," I mumble as I sit down at the counter watching her flip pancakes, and fry bacon.
"Hey hunny! How'd you sleep last night?" She inquires, setting down the spatula and handing me a plate full of food.
As I begin to eat I respond "I had that strange dream again."
"The one where you were flying over the city? Or the one where you are married to that rockstar?" She teases, going back to cooking.
"The flying one!" I half shout with food in my mouth, making it sound more like I said 'dah ffyin on!'
Chuckling, my mom shook her spatula at me, "how many times do I have to tell you not to talk with your mouth full."
