As for the development of the characters, it's perfect in the sense that your characters always seem very real. You master the ability to convey authentic dialogues, intern struggles of the characters and their road to overcome those 'fails'. Apart from all that, I love the insight you give into the world of the character - their lives as writers, editors, military etc. (day to day struggles to reach their goals). I don't want to write any specifics according to this story, because this critique counts for all your stories. I've read them all and love them all.
