Chapter 1
Hi, my name is Jenna Stevens, I am 24 years old and I live in Livermore Falls, New York. I work at LFPD (Livermore Falls Police Department) I work in the Homicide Unit. I have a Partner named Luke Hemmings ( He is a tall guy 6′4 he has short blonde hair, I would say his style is casual. He usually has a T-shirt and a pair of black sweatpants or just baggy clothes in general.)
I should probably explain to you what I look like. Well, I am about 5′7 and 1\2 I Have long brown hair. I would say my style is fancy I usually wear a skirt that goes to my kneecaps and a black shirt that is a little over-sized. Well anyways I was on my way to walk to work (let me paint a mental picture for you) I live in a blue apartment building that has three floors, I live on the first floor and as you walk out the door you see a beige staircase with the paint on the first four stairs the paint is chipping so the landlord threw down a maroon-colored rug. the floor is a lilac color, almost more pastel than lilac usually is. As you walk out the Light pink front door you look to the left down the street you see a stone wall covered in Green moss and Red roses and then you see the large red-ish /Mahogany colored police building. It was about 5:00 in the morning, I walked through the glass door into the building. My department (The Homicide Unit) is on the second floor I could have used the elevator but I am afraid of elevators. It’s not the point it’s scary, I am just scared that the cables will give out one day so I take the stairs. As soon as I got through the door My boss James,( A tall middle-aged man about 6′5 he has short black hair the way I would say his style is classic. When I say classic I mean you never see him in anything but a tuxedo even if you bump into him while at the store that’s all he wears.) tells me to get into his office because he wanted to talk to me.
“Do you know why I asked for you?” He said angrily.
" No, Sir. Why am I here?” I asked as calmly as I could.
“Do you know what today IS?” He Shouted.
" Tuesday?” I asked.
“Are you dumb?” He asked.
“ARE YOU A JERK?” I thought ( I physically knew I couldn’t ask that but I felt as if I could )
“No, Sir What’s today?” I asked as if I cared.
" It is inspection day and your partner, What’s his name, Luke? if he isn’t here you’ll fail the inspection and I’ll fire you both! ” he said.
“But that would be on him, Why would that be my fault?” I questioned him.
“Is he your partner?”
" Yes, Sir But..... ”
“JUST MAKE SURE HE’S HERE!” He Shouted.
“Sure,” I said trying to agree with him.
2 Hours Later
-Luke walks in-
“What the flip is wrong with you?” I yelled at Luke.
" What? ” Luke yelled back at me.
“Why are you late, the inspection is in 4 minutes, you almost got both got us fired,” I said trying to calm down my anger.
“Sorry, I got stuck in traffic?” he said questioning himself.
" WHY ARE YOU LYING, Why why did you come in late? ” I yelled so loud that James walked out of his office and walked over to us.
“This is your fault, Luke !” I said angrily
" Is there a problem here? ” he asked
“No, Sir I came in late because my roommate turned off my alarm, which is not an excuse, and Jenna was just expressing her disappointment with me,” Luke said with all the emotion he could muster.
“Yes, and as I was saying don’t do it again or I’m gonna make you sort all the paperwork in James' office for him instead of his receptionist,” I said.
“Okay, you pass inspection, back to work,” James said.
" Uhhh, What the flip? “I asked angrily.
" I wanted to see if you would yell at Luke for being late and you pass. ” James explained laughing.
“Well thank you, Sir,” I said.
After that James walked back into his office.
Just then Luke looked at me.
“Were you serious about sorting the paperwork?” He asked in fear.
“No, did you wanna be yelled at?” I asked him.
" No.” He said.
“Good, I didn’t wanna be yelled at again either,” I said.
"Let's start working. “Luke said.
After about 12 hours (7:00) it was quitting time so, I walked home, opened my front door, closed it behind me, locked it, then make myself a cup of tea,(I’m not a coffee person). I sat on my couch and watched the golden girls for about two hours ( as I usually did.) and fell asleep
I woke up to the sound of the Golden girls, Which I had fallen asleep watching. When all of a sudden I hear.....
-KNOCK KNOCK- I hear someone knocking very loudly on my door, I leaped up off the couch ran to the door thinking it was my parents,( They would always visit on Wednesday Because it was my day off .) I opened the door to see Luke standing outside my door.
“Hey, What are you doing here?” I asked.
" Well I need to confess something to you. “he said as years rolled down his face.
" What’s wrong? , Why are you crying? ” I asked fearing for the worst (I thought he was going to tell me we got fired I wasn’t late to work because of my roommate, I don’t even have a roommate it’s my Boyfriend.”
The Next Day
Knock, Knock, Knock- I jumped out of bed to the sound of someone pounding on my door.I got dressed cause I was in my outfit from the night before, I opened my door low and behold it was Luke and a tall about 5′9, Brown hair , Brown eyed, I’d say his style was about the same as Luke .
“Hey, Luke. what are you doing here?” I asked him as I moved to let them in
“Hey Jenna this is my Jackson, my boyfriend,” Luke said.
" Hi Jackson I’ve heard so much about you. “I said
" Well, I’m Jackson I have heard slot about you as well , mostly about how you keep this guy out of trouble. ” Jackson said as he pointed to Luke .
so we sat at my dining table and talked for about an hour and a half about work , hobbies ,Art , etc.
“It’s 5:30 we should get going to work,” Luke said
" YOU CARE ABOUT WORK. ” Jackson and I said in unison.
We all began laughing so we all got up walk out of my apartment and split ways. Jackson waved to us as we walked down the street and he walked the other way.
3 Hours Later.
“So are we still on tonight ?” Luke asked
" Yes, I wouldn’t miss this for the world, But We can take my car so you don’t have to take the subway If you want. ” I said
“Okay I have to file this missing person's cases so I’ll see you after work.” He said as he walked off.
9 Hours Later
" Hey, Luke it’s time to go you coming? ” I basically shouted down the hall.
“Yeah, I’m coming,” Luke said.
We started to walk back to my house so we could hop in the car and go, all of a sudden after getting into the car Luke became very upset and started to cry.
“What’s wrong luke? did James say something did I do something?” I was running through everything then I thought he hit his toe off the car.
" No, I just I don’t know okay, I just. I think. Jackson’s ... ” he stopped.
“Jackson’s what?” I asked.
" Cheating, it wouldn’t be a first either. “he said he started to bawl.
" He seems so nice though, try not to think of it okay? ”
“Yeah okay.“He said pulling himself together.
We got to Luke’s house we walked through the door to see Jackson standing in front of the door.
" Luke I need to talk to you in private. ” Jackson said sadly
“No anything you have to say you can say it in front of Jenna,” Luke said angrily
" I’ve been cheating on you I’m sorry. ”
The room got very silent then Luke tried to lunge at Jackson , I began to hold Luke back so he couldn’t hurt Jackson.
“YOU PROMISED YOU SAID YOU WEREN’T GONNA DO IT AGAIN, YOU LIED,I HATE YOU GETTTTT OUTTT.” He screamed , but I understood being cheated on sucks.
“Wait .....I need to know who was it?” Luke asked trying not to cry.
" Uhhh...James ....Your boss. ” Jackson said trying not to laugh.
“I am gonna kill you, get out of my house NOWWWWW,” Luke said crying
Jackson slammed the door, I began to hug Luke and just wondered how someone could be so cruel. Luke slightly pushed me away with his eyes full of tears looked at me.
“I’m not gonna kill anyone btw,” Luke said
" I know you wouldn’t, but do you wanna go out for dinner instead so I can keep an eye on you. ” I said I regretted saying the last part I didn’t want him to think I didn’t trust him, but I’m his friend I needed to be honest with him if it wasn’t gonna be his boyfriend(Ex) it needed to me.
“Yeah, where do you wanna go?” Luke said
“I’m taking you to your favorite place ... The burgers treat( It is an ice cream\burger shop down the street from where he lives).” I said to him
" Okay let’s just go,” he said.
When we got there I ordered for us I knew exactly what he liked anyway, we sat at the outside tables
“I’m sorry you had to hold me back from Jackson, I just can’t believe I put 3 years into our relationship for him to just wanna throw it away like that and with my boss none the less,” he said crying
“Luke Please
do not even start that sorry carp with me if I was being cheated on and I wanted to kill them I know you would hold back,” I said
Just then my cellphone began to ring it was John from the office I put my phone on speaker so Luke could hear. “James has been murdered he was found covered in what looks like blood in his office, we need you and Luke to come and investigate.”
" WHAT THE HELLL. ” me and Luke yelled
At that moment we jumped in the car and sped to the office all we could think was how could this happen what were we going to do.
