Introduction

I was asleep when it happened. I was sleeping soundly in my room, not knowing what would happen next. I was, at this time, having a nightmare. I was in the middle of a forest, with no food, water, friends, and I felt like someone was watching me from nearby.

It was nighttime, and I was in the middle of the woods, having zero clue as to where I was. It felt like I was placed there, not knowing where to go. I looked up to see shimmering stars and a large crescent moon illuminating the tall oak trees, creating these eerie shadows on the forest floor. I looked to my left, and saw trees for miles, before they got enveloped into the darkness that is the twilight horizon. I occasionally saw fireflies illuminating their small bodies, like flickering lights. I heard the occasional sounds of mosquitos, and owls hooting, singing their individual melodies to create this orchestra of forest noises. I saw the same thing as I moved around in a circle. As pleasant as the forest was, I had nothing with me. It’s almost as if I was dropped here with no recollection of how I got here, and when. I had no flashlight, so I had to go by my own sense of sight, but I feared to move, as I felt someone watching me in the distance. I couldn’t see them, but I felt them. I felt this wave of paranoia wash over my body, as I started to shake nervously. I didn’t want to call out to see if anyone would answer me, out of fear of getting caught by someone or something.

I looked around one more time, into the dark wood, trying to see if there was a way out. There unfortunately wasn’t, so I kept looking around, hoping, praying, that someone wouldn’t jump out at me and kidnap me. I heard a sudden rustle in the leaves, and the sounds of the breaking of sticks coming from somewhere. I felt like something was going to happen eventually, but I didn’t know when.

“Hello?! Is there someone there?” I called out, scanning my eyes to the left and right quickly, making sure there wasn’t someone there. I then started running, knowing that there was no answer, as I ran through this maze of tall trees, until I tripped on a thick root and came tumbling down to this clearing. There were bushes, as I felt something small crawling up my arm. I felt more and more of these small creatures started crawling, until they went inside of my clothing. I started screaming, as I fell back and hit my head on the dirt floor. I looked up to the trees above me, and saw the stars twinkling innocently, and the moon smiling at me as I was tortured, happy for my suffering. I heard mosquitoes buzzing loudly in my ear, as I tried to move my arm to swat at them, but I couldn’t.

The next thing I knew, I saw this figure standing above me, floating in the air, but before I could figure out the identity of the figure, everything went black and everything just stopped.
