❀ Love Diary :: 01 ❀

The warmth radiating from the sun's rays was a soothing experience when one lay in its reach. An experience Florian often found himself enjoying immensely. For Florian to be able to just slurp up all the warmth, he labeled it as his freedom.

His eyes were closed as he lies among a large field of overgrown grass. His face, full of delicate features, looked very serene, and very lightly his chest heaved up and down. Florian couldn't recall just how long he had been out in the field, his guess was only two hours. But then again, Florian didn't particularly care. Because to be out here was a privilege he couldn't immerse himself with too many times.

Florian's eyes fluttered open revealing sapphire blue eyes. They stared at the stunning sky that seemed to be losing its beautiful blue in favor of the orange-ish red that came with the sunset.

"I suppose that answers the question of how long I've been out here," Florian mumbled. Although he wanted to revel in everything around him a bit more, Florian knew he couldn't. Sighing in disappointment, he pushed himself up using his skinny pale arms until he was standing with his black vans. Dusting his clothes, a simple red t-shirt, and black skinny jeans, he thoroughly made sure he left no speck of dust left.

"Mr. Garcia there you are!"

Crunch. Crunch.

Shoes beating the dirt ground and the familiar voice of his father's secretary garnered his attention. His head snapped up to catch the woman jogging, almost tripping a few times, toward him. His father's secretary, Lauren Grey, was a middle-aged woman who got paid too little for what she does. Lauren often looked after me at my father's request all the while doing her actual job. In Florian's eyes, she was a very capable woman and was appreciated by his father and himself, however, his father did not appreciate her enough. She had a small of two children and her husband, Jacob Grey, living not far from them.

Lauren's shoulders slumped in exhaustion once she had gotten within reach of Florian. Catching her breath quickly, her hand grips his right arm gently without any bite behind it. Her face, a few wrinkles among her tan skin tone, was filled with worry. Her hazel-colored eyes searched over him as if he was hurt even though he felt just fine. But he knew her worry would not be eased with a few simple words from his lips.

After all, he has said he was fine several times but turned out to be anything but.

Once Lauren had adequately checked Florian over deeming him healthy she released his arm. Shaking her head, she pursed her lips and shot him an unhappy look."You've been out here for so long Mr. Garcia. Have you decided not to heed your doctor's warnings?"

Florian cast his eyes down suddenly feeling ashamed of himself. "I'm sorry, " He mumbled quietly. He truly was sorry seeing how much Lauren was worried for him. But this was what felt like a once in a lifetime his body wasn't fatigued and in pain. Due to this, he wanted to take advantage of this and escape the room he was instructed to stay in.

Lauren had expressed her understanding of his situation but she had her orders. He didn't blame her but he blamed his father.

Lauren sighed and took a step forward slipping her arms around the small delicate boy in front of her. A rare moment of affection from her but after so long it was hard to hold back the affection she held for Florian. To her, Florian was her child but that was a mere fantasy she dreamed of.

Florian tensed when Lauren wrapped him in a hug but relaxed not long after. Burying his face in her neck, he felt wet tears tickling the edges of his round-shaped eyes. When he spoke his voice was softer than usual and sounded more broken than he wanted to sound. "I just wanted...to be outside for once. To feel normal and enjoy life around me. That's all..."

Lauren smiled but soon it disappeared. "I know you do Florian. I know you do."

For a while, the two stood there until the sun had completely disappeared. Florian inhaled sharply before removing himself from Lauren's warm arms. Lauren often reminded him of his mother that had long since passed. Though it hurt to withstand he also enjoyed her presence more than he hated it. He opened his mouth to say a few words he had in mind but last minute decided against it.

Instead, he slowly walked away from her walking back to his house.

Florian's father, Gideon Garcia, was the CEO of Techcore. A company to ease people's lives with new technology and have been the center of magazine's and people's interests. So it was no surprise that they both lived in a larger than average house filled to the brim with everything they could need. Their house, a large one of a kind build, was an expensive purchase. It was a two-story modern house with a pool and hot tub in the back. It was a four-bedroom, two-car garage, and three-bath house with two balconies connected to two of the rooms. Gideon occupied the master bedroom on the second floor while Florian took the second biggest room on the first floor. For protection, in case people try to rob us, there was a security gate at the front connected to fencing that circled the entire house.

Florian and Lauren, both a fair distance apart, reached the back-gates of the house. Florian didn't wait and opened the gate entering the backyard of his house. And as if the universe hated him the systems of fatigue suddenly hit him like a train causing him to pause. Lauren who just reached the gate took notice and rushed quickly to his side and wrapped one of her arms around his back to give him stability.

"Florian are you okay? Do I need to go get Luke?" Lauren asked hurriedly. Florian's head rolled to the side as his eyes fluttering closed.

"Yeah...get George, " He managed to slowly mutter before his body sagged. He had fallen into a familiar sleep state that often came with his condition. Lauren, who experienced this multiple times before, quickly activated her Bluetooth wireless headphone that resided in her left ear. Lauren always had it on her when she was with Florian which always proved to be useful.

Luke Knight, a six-foot-tall college student, was Florian's best friend. He was the son of Lydia and Dale Knight who was both long-time family friends of the Garcia family. Both Florian and Like we're childhood friends and value each other as if they were brothers. The role of brother only heightened when Florian was diagnosed with Chronic Sleep Syndrome which was a condition in which the body shut-down unwillingly when it needed sleep. The doctors had no idea originally what the cause had been for Florian's constant fainting spells until deeming it a new medical discovery.

Symptoms are often fatigue, fainting, and almost constant pain in the leg and head areas.

"Lauren where are you?" Like, who knew the reason Lauren called, asked his voice

"Back gate behind the pool. He is completely knocked out and I might drop him so please hurry." Lauren replied before hanging up. Adjusting her grip holding Florian, she tried her hardest to support his weight. Though he was extremely light she still found it hard to support his weight most times. She never necessarily had the good upper arm strength to carry things which made her life all the harder. It also seemed to cost her multiple jobs when she was freshly out of high school.

The familiar dark brown haired Luke exited out of the glass sliding doors of the house. His black eyes noted Lauren struggling to hold Florian instantly. Quickly he rushed around the pool and swept up Florian gently into his hold. Circling his arms underneath Florian's legs, he carried him bridle style back to his room. Lauren followed anxiously behind as they walked through the living room. Their shoes best across the light hard-wood floor as they turned into the hallway.

The door, that was on the left in the hallway across from the bathroom, was closed. Luke looked at Lauren asking her to open it up for him. Maneuvering out of the way, Luke let Lauren open the door and entered his room laying Florian on his platform bed. Florian entertained himself with various movies, t.v shows, and wildlife decorated his room centered around all of those things. He had posters of his favorite movies and many figurines of characters that were in t.v shows. His walls were colors that of a forest and held outlines of trees and flowers. He had a desk just across his bed with a diary laying closed on top of it and a chair.

Like tucked the blanket over Florian and turned to Lauren. "Let's not tell Gideon about this alright Lauren?" Luke's gaze was sharp and demanding as he gazed at her seriously. He held no authority but if Gideon knew Florian had been outside for such a long time he would surely make sure he wouldn't even leave the house. Like knew how happy being outside made Florian and so he vowed to try and help him in any way he could. Especially when he couldn't even help with Florian's condition.

Lauren's lips pursed as an uncomfortable feeling swirled in her stomach. "But..." Lauren couldn't lie to her boss regarding Florian. Gideon was not a patient and kind man ever since his wife died and if he found out she lied...she might lose her job.

Luke clamped a hand down on her shoulder and smiled reassuringly as if he could read her mind regarding her troubles. "It's alright you won't lose your job. Just send him my way if he asks anything and I'll deal with it all alright?"

Lauren searched his face for a minute before sighing. "Fine."

With that agreement between them they both, as quietly as possible, left the room. Like switched the light off pausing to give Florian one last look over. Once he assured himself that he would be fine he closed the door and walked into the living room where Lauren had gone.

Click. Click.

Both Lauren and Luke who were standing in the living room turned their heads at the noise. A few moments after Gideon Garcia entered the living room. Gideon was a medium height male that usually wore professional clothing like suits. Other than his plaid pajamas and grey t-shirt the clothing and accessories he wore screamed rich. He took no pleasure in showing off his money but with a job like his he needed to exert a professional aura and as a well-off person he was to achieve the things he needed.

He nodded his head at Lauren who bowed.

"Hey, Gideon!"Luke greeted in a friendly manner.

Gideon grunted not gracing Luke with a reply and only walked past them both into the kitchen. He didn't have the energy to cook anything to eat so instead he opted for leftovers. Grabbing the bowl of spaghetti out of the fridge, he grabbed a small bowl. Popping the lid off, he grabbed a utensil and scooped spaghetti filling his bowl.

"How was Florian today?" Gideon finally asked while placing his small bowl of spaghetti in the microwave.

"Florian was fine today! He stayed inside and watched the new episode of his show today." Lauren answered her boss's question trying not to feel guilty about lying.

Gideon nodded. "Good. And Luke, " As Gideon waited for his food to be reheated he turned to Luke who cocked his head to the right in question. "About that thing we discussed yesterday..."

Luke's eyes widened and as he was about to say something Gideon cut him off.

"I've already sent everything they need. Tomorrow I will talk to Florian about it and set some rules. If he agrees then he can go." Gideon turned back around and waved the two away dismissing them.

Both Lauren and Like shared a look and excited the house together when they were dismissed. To them, it seemed Gideon was having a rough day and if they stayed he might break and they didn't want that to happen. So they left, leaving Gideon alone in the kitchen waiting for his food.

Beep. Beep.

Gideon let the microwave beep for a little bit as he stared off into space. The entire day he had thought over what Luke and he had talked about with an open mind. He was still feeling unsure about all this but Luke had made great points so he figured he at least owed Florian this. And maybe if he did then...He and Florian's relationship would improve.

That's all Gideon wanted...

Abandoning the spaghetti in the microwave, Gideon walked to his son's room. Pausing just outside his door, he gazed down at the doorknob hesitantly. Turning it slowly, the door opened a crack and Gideon peeked his head into his son's room. Florian's face was peaceful as he slept that reminded Gideon too much of his late wife that had passed. Gideon's eyes turned sad as he watched his son sleep before he couldn't stand looking at him anymore. Closing the door, Gideon turned his back to the door and leaned his back against it. He buried his face in his hands as memories of his wife flashed in his mind.

"We miss you Lyrie..." Gideon whispered silently as if she was standing right next to him able to hear.
